she and I shared the same birthday, but were born 35 years before me. Louise died
l5 years ago. My Granny Pearl (died 4/99) was born on October 4th, 1908. Idelle,
it was good to hug your neck too and nice to meet Gilley. Judy,Judy,Judy--I hate

Good evenin', friends! Been busy the last few days, so am catching up. Congrats
to the newly-engaged couple - that's great! May you have many happy years together.
De§, let me add my vote for what it's worth - don't change your name! I'm
about to go on DSL with Internet America, and they've told me I can keep my email
address, since I'm with their dial-up service already. I hope they're right. I've
been "Romeena" for so long now in email, screen name, TAGS name, etc., that I
don't think I'd recognize myself if I had to change it. Here's one of those little
trivia things that we all love -- I was watching "Matlock" the other day, and
noticed that when Ben called up his answering service to get his messages, the
operator he spoke to was - who else? - SARAH! Isn't that great? I just love those
little subtle tie-ins to TAGS that he uses in "Matlock". Most of them would not
be picked up by anyone but TAGS fans. I just think it's so "Andy" of him to do
that, don't you? Welcome home, you lucky Mayberry Days travelers. Have a lovely
weekend, folks!--Romeena

yo to everybody!
romeena, yes i remember that matlock episode. i think it is great how
he did that. then, they re-did some of the old bits that they did on TAGS, like
trying to bend barn's arm, and barn says "you didn't do it rite" hahaha that
always cracked me up. after a long time of withdrawl, i can finally see matlock
again on tv. there are at least 3 cases that i can recall of star trek actors
on matlock:
major kyra (DS9)
oto (DS9)
7 of 9 (Voyager)
coincidence? i think not. "the sherrif without a phaser". gomer: "IT's YER WARP
COIL!". floyd: "if you want a good suit, you gotta go to the delta quadrant"
anyway, i was reading that don knotts calls andy "ange" in real life. i think
that's cool.

Howdy, folks. Up late tonight, us night workers live in an upside-down world,
you know. Am so concerned for little Buddy, praying he'll be found OK. You have
to wonder how this happened, especially since this isn't the first time. I don't
want to point fingers, there may be extenuating circumstances, but one does wonder.
We once had a neighbor whose 3-yr old daughter roamed the neighborhood freely,
like a little cat. Once I entered my living room to find her sitting in front
of my TV. She had let herself in. That was okay with me, but we were about to
leave, so I told her to run on home. She replied, "I can't, Mommy locked the door
when she left. She told me to come play with David." David is my son (her age)
who wasn't even at home at the time, and five minutes later, we wouldn't have
been home either. So, little Yvonne would have been locked out everywhere. Naturally,
I spoke to her mother about it, and her answer was "Well, she's pretty self-sufficient.
She'd have been okay." How do you talk to someone that ignorant? I just spread
the word in the neighborhood, and we all watched out for Yvonne after that. Today,
I'd probably have alerted the police. Back then, I guess I was a bit ignorant
myself, chose not to make a moulage out of it, just started watching out for the
kid. Finally, they moved away, moved in with Yvonne's grandparents, so guess she
did alright. Well, guess I'll try to catch a few winks. Have a great Mayberry
day tomorrow.--Romeena

Goodmorning everyone. Anxious to see those pictures MPO.
You remember when Aunt Bee wouldn't let Opie go to the courthouse after school and he winded up
going to an old man that caved in when he tried to
remove a board, then fell asleep eating apples on the back of the truck and the truck unknowingly
carried him to another town? Anyways, kids can get away from you real quick. But folks ought not to leave a 3 year old on there on. Buddy's aunt said he was watching a Barney tape and she was laying on the sofa and fell asleep and 20 minutes later when she awoke, he was gone. May God lead them to him because tonight it get down around 30 degrees. Even if the dogs lay next to him, it is too cold for the dogs to be out, let alone a 4 year old. One dog is minus a leg too.
Just don't sound good to me. God help him.
Romeena, since you live in an upset down world, do you sleep with your head on the wrong end of the bed....just kidding.
Happy Sabbath!

Since this is the month of October our house has gone on a number 1 amber alert. This year we are ready for all tricksters. Friday night after returning from the Football game, which we lost 90 to 0, we were attack by paintballers. This time we fired back with my son's paintball gun which we brought over the summer. They went a running. Hooray for the good guys. So if you came by my house stop in for a treat but watch out for the tricks, because we are ready this year.

Gotta tell ya though, I wanted Betty Lynn's autograph, but the lines were so long and they cut the signings off at 5:30. Well, after it was all over with, Emmett and Martha and Charlene and I were in Shoneys and lo and behold; guess who came in and sat at the table two down from us? It was Betty Lynn! She signed our books and was a gracious lady. That made it all worth it. Can't wait till we get our pictures back. Gotta hit the old ironing board; 4:30 comes mighty early. Well folks, it was just plum wonderful is what it was! Mr. Foley & I were right there in it. We flew to Birmingham on Friday evening & Fred & Jennie Boone picked us up at the airport. We had dinner with them Friday night & spent time just visiting. Saturday morning they went back to the airport to pick up Opie, so Mr. Foley & I just hung around the hotel & had a leisurely breakfast.
When they got back we all sat around for a while over coffee & muffins that Opie brought (his homemade)and visited some more. Long about lunch time we drifted over across the street to the Ragtime cafe and had some lunch & visited some more. About 2:00PM we all piled in to Fred & Jennies little car and drove out to the amphitheater where the show was gonna be held. We stood in line in a pretty chilly breeze for at least an hour or more while we waited to get in the gates. While we were in line we saw Emmett & Martha & Barn & Charlene way back yonder so we all took turns runnin' back to say hello & visit with them some. We hadn't seen Emmett & Martha for a whole week (since Mayberry Days) and we hadn't seen Charlene before atall & Barn for at least a year or more. Anyway we finally got in the gates & then it was a mad dash to the autograph lines. The stars signed autographs for at least 2 hours. I got most of the ones I wanted, but missed a couple 'cause the lines were too long. We laughed & talked and just had a wonderful time with our Mayberry friends & even met a few new ones like we usually do. Then it was time for the show! And what a show it WAS! I think we counted Seventeen TAGS stars (or their relatives)that were there! Plus the Dillards & Alan & David and various local entertainers. Oh! It was BIG! One of my greatest treats was meeting Kit McNear (Howard's son) and talking with him and also finally getting to meet my namesake, Mary Grace Canfield! I have been to several TAGS events & met the others, but those two I had not met before. By 10:45 when the show ended we were all freezing but having a wonderful time while we froze. We raced back to our hotel to get warm with some hot tea & snacks & sat around just visitng & talking some more about the show & what a wonderful time we had. Around one AM when we could no longer hold our eyes open we finally gave up & went to bed. Then it was sleep in for a while, have breakfast, visit some more & head to the airport. With lots of hugs & amid lots of tears we boarded the plane to head back home. Once we started thru that gate, I was like Ms. Lesch, I couldn't look back! Spending time with Mayberry friends is just the best there is; it just don't get any better than that! I wish each & every one of you could have been there with us! ``sniff,``sniff....NRNMG

I did get some of folks chewing and stuff, when we was eating, so those are always fun to put out for everyone to see! LOL (we call them blackmail pix where I come from....hhehehhe).
Everybody - thanks for all the birthday well wishes too! They are much appreciated!!! So much love in Mayberry! We are gonna have a little yellow sponge cake and some ice cream for me next weekend, it should be fun. We woulda did it this weekend, but my mom is going thru a rough patch right now and we decided to wait it out.
Its chilly here, mid-30's at night...COME ON SNOW! Well, what else is a mountain-girl-who-lives-in-the-city supposed to say?
HEY MCB, Gilly saw Mrs Cookie Bar on Friday afternoon when he was driving in DC. He said she didn't know who the heck it was! LOL, so tell her the guy who was riding by her in a truck, and honking wasn't a stalker, it was Gilly! LOL. (hopefully it was her or I'll have to have his glasses checked again! )
You all take care!
More power to ya!!!
Idelle
