Good evening porch folks. Just thought I would rock for a few minutes .
Been busy this afternoon. Cleaning out drawers, cabinets and pantry shelves. It’s amazing how much “stuff” we have collected , put back and forgot and about. I have been donating stuff to our local Habitat for Humanity and to a local resale shop where the proceeds go to local men and women’s shelters.
Our remodeling projects are coming along. One bathroom is done, the other is almost done. The kitchen will be next. We have ordered our cabinets which will take about 12 weeks to get apparently . We found a local business called All wood Cabinets. The cabinets and the owner came highly recommended by several folks as well as our contractor/construction guy. The owner was very kind, personable . He came out and saw our space, measured and was very knowledgeable. His prices were very reasonable, cheaper than a couple of other places we got quotes from and he had the same exact cabinets .
Hopefully it will eventually come together. The kitchen may not get started fir a while but it will be ok, I am trying to be patient.
Well GF, at this point it doesn’t look like we will make it to Mayberry Days again this year. To much other stuff seems to get in our way . You will have to fill me in when you get back.
I will let you know if something changes and we can make it .
Prayers for sweet Mavis.
Supper menu : meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas.
Prayers and blessings to all

Hi Porch,
I had a serious couple of questions for all of you....
1. Have any of you cut out the news entirely?
2. Have you cut it ALMOST cut it out where you just get quick updates and then you're done?
3. What do you do to fill your time to stay away from the news?
I have been seriously thinking of cutting out the news, all of it, cold turkey. I have been reading articles about doing this and many say it's the right thing to do. If something really important or big happens, you find out one way or another. Otherwise, the rest is the same ol' slung hash.
I'd really like to hear from all of you.
Take care, folks!

Hello Porchsters.
ASA--I looked up that Sun Joe, looks like a good electronal weed wacker.
Is yours battery powered?
And did you get your rain today? I hope so.
Regarding Helen's "claws", in the episode guide that I have, Tuesday's episode on
Me-TV speaks of "Helen's wrath!" Even those blurp writers know her well! haha
The other night was Ro and Possum's episode with Ernest T Bass. Some great lines in that one, like "What about these cottonpickin' rocks?" :)
GF, how was Mayberry Days??
Big Maude, too bad you did not get to go this year.
Regarding your cabinets. Because of both worker and parts shortages, ours took
5 months from order date to installation. But they look great!
John Masters, a while back we agreed with Floyd that we'd keep politic-type talk
to a minimum here so that it could remain more of our 'get-away' place for tags talk,
what's up with our lives, etc. But to answer your question(s), I watch about the first 5 to 10 minutes of our local news, then the weather, and sometimes sports, but no national news
to speak of. As you say, if there is any sort of big story, there are other ways for it to get around. To fill the time, I come here for a bit, but also, my wife and I are volunteering
more these days with various organizations, and after supper, we ride our bikes around. Geat exercise!
RO, I hope your trip went well and that you had a nice visit with all.
Boo, that IS good news to hear! BTW, I too miss your banter about your various animals! :)
Hang in there all. Prayers for our world,

Been watching my Dragnet videos as of late. John Masters shows up a lot on those as one of the lab boys that Barney talked about. lol Funny how Gannon wasn't going to be happy until he got Joe married off.
I saw our Nurse Peggy on Alfred the other night. She was married to a feller who tried to kill her to get her money, but she was too sly for him. She surely had a cute southern drawl in every pert I have seen her in.
Well off to enjoy the day. Supposed to be around 70 this afternoon here. Well that's just perfect is what it is.

Well, howdy, porch! I guess I'll try it again. I got in late on Sunday night from Fredericksburg, after a lovely weekend, beautiful wedding, fun with family, etc. I had to teach an ESL class at 9:30 Monday morning, got home around noon, and was pretty useless the rest of the day. Tuesday wasn't much different. Eddie was here yesterday, and I worked in the yard with him for a good part of the day, useless again last night. When I run out of steam, my little engine just quits for a while, and that happens more and more easily these days. We got a lot done, though. Still, I did get on the porch yesterday evening, wrote a nice long post, accidentally hit the "Archives" button and away it all went. Not retrievable. I just hate when that happens, and I was too tired to do it again.
Anyway, the wedding was beautiful. It was at an outdoor venue, on a ranch outside of Johnson City, TX. The setting is on a bluff that overlooks the Pedernales River (LBJ called it the "Perdanales River") and it's just beautiful. The ceremony was just before sunset, the sun was low behind a grove of trees, so not too hot, and it was very nice. Very "Texas."
My daughter Heather had arranged for me and her husband's stepmother to stay in a lovely house across the street from their own. The people who own it live in West Texas, and use it as a getaway. When they're not there, they allow friends and friends-of-friends to stay in the house like a B&B. We were not allowed to pay anything, it was considered a wedding gift to the couple, to provide the house for the bride's two grandmothers. They couldn't stop us from leaving them a lovely serving tray and bowl, though. Both of us are step-grandmothers, but both of us ignore the "step" part. Julia is my granddaughter, no "step" considered.
I had not met Susan, the other grandma, but Heather assured me we were "peas in a pod" and would have fun. Was she ever right! Susan is a lot of fun, very down-to-earth and easy to like. She's 3 years younger than I am, and we have many, many little age-related annoyances to laugh about. We (of course) went on one little shopping, exploring trip into downtown Fredericksburg, and didn't buy anything but had fun. She lives in Lufkin, about 3 1/2 hours from me, so we may make some visits now and then. We really got along well, and have a lot in common.
I left Trinket with Dr. Mike, as David and Brittney were at the wedding also, and my fall-back sitter, a friend from church, was already committed to stay with someone else's dog that weekend. I got into the burg around 2 on Friday afternoon, and didn't check my phone until around 7. Found a call from Dr. Mike's office that came in at 4, no message left. Scared me, of course, so I tried to call back, but of course the office closes at 6. Very worried that something was wrong with Trinket. They were giving her annual vaccines, and I was afraid she might have had a reaction, or worse, that another dog might have hurt her. Everyone kept telling me not to worry, that they would have left a message if it was anything serious. Still, you know how furkid moms are! I called Eloise to get Mike's home number out of the church directory. She did, and I called, but found it's no longer a working number. I guess they've given up their land line and are just using cells now. Tried to call their closest friends at church to get the cell number, but she was not home. So I spent a very restless night, and at 8:01 on Saturday, I was calling the office. Well, guess what. Nothing wrong. They just wanted to ask me how I get Trinket to go potty!!! I forgot to tell them that she uses a piddlepad. They said she planted her feet and flatly refused to step off the concrete into the grass that serves as the "potty spot" for their furry clients. True. She will refuse. The only place she will step out into grass is at David's house, and she follows Diesel. Otherwise, she'll just hold it, thank you. Rotten little brat!
We're cooling down here in the Dallas area, too. Our prediction for the next ten days shows only two days at 92° for a high, everything else is in the mid-to-upper 80s. Sure does feel good!
Regarding watching the news, I pretty much don't. I get two or three "conservative" online publications, and am well aware of what our president is or isn't doing, and try not to worry about it because there's nothing I can do about it. Except vote, which of course, I will. Then I have the "Next Door" thing online, that keeps me informed of local happenings. I don't know if that plan is national or not, but as I understand it, its original intent was just sort of a chat/inform thing within a neighborhood, but it has spread like ripples in a pond, and now I hear about lost pets, "gunshots" heard in the night, packages stolen from porches, and the best and worst places to eat from as far away as Dallas! I think there's a way you can limit your area of circulation, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I think I'll get it done, though. It's depressing enough to learn about lost pets and such in my little section of Irving, I don't need to know that it happens in Dallas as well.
Well, guess I'll go rustle up a little lunch, though I'm really not hungry. I've got a cantaloupe in the garage fridge, maybe I'll just eat half of that. With a little cottage cheese for protein, might be pretty good! Hope it's a sweet one! Blessings, friends. Keep looking up! --Romeena

Romeena, so glad that your trip went well. The wedding does sound like it was beautiful, and also that you two grammas got along so well, as that can sometimes be a 'situation,' or as Barn would say, 'we got us a real situation here.' :) Also happy that all was ok with Trinket,

ASA, good to see you stopping by. Yes, it is cooling down here also. This week will even hit the 80s!
As for the actors getting around, I saw Miss Ellie on Wagon Train today.
Speaking of Wagon Train, it just amazes me what those folks went thru
during their long trek west, weather, indians, water shortages, etc.
They were one tough breed for sure.
Also, as JM mentoned about the actors, many got their first gig on I Love Lucy.

Good morning, porch! Beautiful day here. I'm up early and about to head for the church, as this is "Internationals Day", and I'll be trying to teach some English to some folks. Last week, there were three Spanish speakers, all with very limited English, and one lovely young woman, I think from Ethiopia, who actually spoke a lot more English that then other three. It's been two years since I've taught these classes - thanks in part to Covid - and once again, I'm humbled by the difficult English language. It's so much harder than Spanish, and it makes me ashamed that my Spanish isn't any better than it is. It's a beautiful language, and is so very much easier to learn than English. It has such simple, straight-forward rules, and there are very few variations. Very few! Each vowel is pronounced one way, and one way only. In English, each vowel has several pronunciations, and to make it worse, those can vary from location to location. Very confusing. Then there are the different ways to refer to a group of people. We have you, youse, you-uns, youse guys (shudder), and the lovely, southern and Texan "y'all." There are probably others, in various pockets of folks across the nation. Colorful, yes, but terribly confusing to the newcomers to the language.
Well, better get gone from here! Prayers for Mavis! Have a great day, everyone. Keep looking up! --Romeena

Good afternoon, porch! Not much going on here today, just a Women's Dinner at the church tonight! Should be fun, and good food. One of our local Charter high schools has a Culinary Arts Department, and they often prepare the food for dinners at the church. Those kids are so cute in their black uniforms, and their tall white "toque" (chef's hat) and they're so businesslike! The food, truly, is very, very good. They also serve meals at the school occasionally, for $5 a ticket, and it's more than worth it, believe me! Eloise and I have gone a couple of times. Our meal tonight was $12 for a ticket, but we have a speaker also, a very highly-recommended woman. Should be very nice.
I wish I could go to Mayberry Days, just once, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen. It's a pretty long drive for me, especially if I go alone, and I really can't afford the expense either. Some things just aren't in the plan, I guess. I do enjoy hearing about the experiences of those of you who do get to go.
Well, Trinket's topknot has fallen again. I can't imagine why! The little brat will put the top of her head down to the floor, and scrub it back and forth, deliberately rubbing the scrunchy out of her topknot. You'd think she'd learn that she will just find herself up on a chair, with me combing the topknot and putting it up in another scrunchy, which she hates. Still, mothers are like that. We want our babies to look pretty!
I'm convinced that God gave women babies to enjoy and take great delight in when we're young. Then, as we get older, and have fewer resources such as money for college and strength to perform the necessary tasks, the children mature and move out, and we're rewarded with little furry children who don't go to college, or rebel, or move out. They just require love, attention, food and water, and a place to sleep. They will stay alone while Mama goes to a dinner, and will be delighted to see you when you return, with no pouting. Well, maybe just a little. Gotta love 'em!
Blessings, friends! Keep looking up! --Romeena

Good morning, porch! Cool and cloudy here today, hope we get some rain out of it. We're at 70° right now, and rain showers predicted. Thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow. I hope the weatherman knows what he's talking about.
I'll be playing bunco today. We usually play in the evening, first Friday of the month, but some of the gals who don't or can't drive at night have decided we need to meet at noon instead. I'm not fond of that idea, just doesn't "feel right", but I won't make waves. Instead, I'm picking up four of the protesters, because some can't or won't drive at all, day or night, and I can and will, so there you go! I figure as long as I have a good car, good eyesight, and the physical ability to drive, I should do what I can. God gave me all those things, I enjoy driving, and am happy to do it as long as I'm able. I guess I'll get used to the noon-time thing.
The berries on my American Beautyberry shrubs are ripe, apparently. They're beautiful, that's for sure! Anyway, the robins are coming in this morning, half a dozen or more out there right now, there will be dozens by noon, just chowing down on those berries. By evening, there will be few, if any berries left. I'm sorry, because they are so pretty, like hundreds of little purple bracelets on the canes of the shrubs. The clusters completely encircle the canes. Still, they feed the birds, and that was my original intent when I planted the first shrub. The second one is a volunteer, I didn't plant it. It obligingly popped up in another flowerbed, in a good location, so I left it, and now it's as big and beautiful as its parent. Nature is amazing!
Mr. Bushytail just went prancing past my window, with a large pecan in his mouth. In a few weeks, it will be a foot-tall pecan tree in a flowerbed somewhere, and will have to be dug out. Once they get tall enough to be noticed, the roots are too deep to pull them up. Digging is the only way to get them out.
Well, guess I'd better go see if I can do anything with my hair. I need a haircut, am pretty shaggy, but I'll figure out something. Wish I had Gomer's bucket! Or Aunt Bee's wig. Oh well.
Blessings, friends. Keep looking up! --Romeena

Good morning, porch. Well, my Beautyberries survived the robin onslaught, because the rain came and apparently robins don't like rain, because they abandoned the berries and disappeared, sheltering somewhere, I suppose. There are gaps in the chains of berries on some of the canes, but most of them are still there. No robins around this morning, either, as it looks like we could get a frog-strangler today. I hope so! We need it.
We played bunco yesterday, at noon. Our hostess had made a delicious taco salad, and a really good orange jello/pineapple/shredded carrot salad that was very good. My mom used to make that when I was a child, haven't eaten it in many years, and am planning to make one soon and eat it all myself!!! Hahaha!
The consensus of opinion on the noon vs evening for bunco question is about evenly divided. I very definitely prefer evening, but will do whatever the others decide. After watching one of the drivers try to get out of the hostess' driveway, I could understand if she didn't want to drive ANYTIME, but she's only reluctant to drive at night.
It was funny, and a bit sad, at the same time. The driveway is not difficult. It curves out and is double wide near the garage, but is more narrow near the street. Wider than the average, but not quite double wide. I was the first to arrive, so I followed the curve up to the garage, leaving a straight shot from the street for the next car. Well, when we were leaving, I was waiting for her to just back straight out, and then I could get out easily. It was like a scene from a funny movie. She backed a little way, but not straight out, she was slanting across a little, about to take my tail light with her. She stopped in time, pulled forward, tried again, and this time her front fender was about to scrape mine. She had started out with three feet between the cars, and nothing to do but back straight out. Finally, she just stopped and asked me to back out first! Which, of course, I was happy to do, before she tore my car up! It took a little maneuvering, to follow that curve backward, with her car right alongside, but I made it easily. Tillie is very maneuverable. No back-up cameras or anything, just a good car that handles easily.
Then the show began. We sat across the street, and watched her try to back out of that driveway, just a straight shot to the street. After about five attempts, back up, pull forward, back up, forward, etc., she had the car almost crossways on the driveway! I wanted so badly to go offer to back it out for her, but she would have been highly insulted and probably never spoken to me again, so I didn't. Anyway, at that point, I left, as she knew we were watching, which was probably making her more nervous. Besides, the hostess came out the front door, and I hope she was coming to make that offer. Let the driver be mad at her! I'm hoping her four passengers were scared enough that they'll vote to go back to evenings, in which case our bad driver will not drive, because she doesn't drive at night. Thank heaven! I think several guardian angels were pretty busy, and nervous, yesterday. One thing I know for sure - had I been a passenger in that car yesterday, it would be the last time for me.
Well, guess I'll try to get a little work done around here today. The part of the house where I mostly live needs vacuuming, Trinket needs her face washed, I need to make a lesson plan for my ESL students for Monday, and I mostly want to get in my wheelerette and watch some TV! Hmmm. Decisions, decisions! Also, Robbi sent me a recipe for some cookies that sound wonderful. Maybe I'll make some.... Blessings, friends. Keep looking up! --Romeena

Good morning, porch! I'm still laughing at the memory of those parking attempts. I'm a little sorry I posted the story about my friend's attempts. She's a sweet lady, a little opinionated, but so am I, so I can't criticize that. It's just that the memory of that car sitting crosswise on the driveway is so funny! And yes, parallel parking is almost a thing of the past, at least where I live. Maybe in the big cities it's still a thing, but not in my little burg.
Heading for church services in a few minutes, then maybe to lunch with friends, then to the grocery store and PetSmart, then home to let poor little Trinket out of the bathroom. Sweet little thing has been practically living in that bathroom this past week. Not that it's such a bad thing, with a cuddlebed, toys, food, fresh water, and she knows how to open the laundry cabinet door, if she wants to lay on my towels and clothes, which she does. When I get home, she pauses for about three seconds, just giving me what passes for a dirty look when you're a little white dog with a pony tail on top of your head, then she pounces on me and would hug me if she could. Dogs are so forgiving!
MDC, your comments on the condition of America, actually of our world, are spot on. I would change one word. I would change "to" to "of", as in "Please pray for a return of our Lord." The time is coming, too many prophecies are being fulfilled. His return just has to be imminent. Let's hope so! Blessings, friends! Keep looking up! --Romeena

Good Sabbath all.
I hope everything is fine and dandy with everyone. My prayers continue for all, especially for our dear Mavis.
MDC, Do you get the feeling we are frogs in a pot and the water is boiling? Little by little, bit by bit. It almost makes you feel like giving up. But that's what the advisory wants. We all just need to stay the course and follow Him. He will win in the end. And I know who's side I want to be on at the end of it all.
Romeena, Your love for your firkids is so awesome. And it speaks so very highly of who you are. As I have said before, I don't believe in reincarnation, but if I did I would want to come back as one of your furkids. It would be a good life. :)
PH, That video was funny but alarming at the same time. You have to wonder how many of those drivers were impaired and had no business behind the wheel of a car. The night I graduated high school, a friend of mine and his girlfiend were walking on a sidewalk, when a drunk driver blew a stop sign at a T intersection, jumped the curb across the street and plowed into the two of them. My friend was killed and his girlfriend was crippled for life. Heart breaking to say the least. My tolerence to impaired driving is zero.
And then yesterday I found out that a kid I grew up with has died from COVID and will be buried on Wednesday. Really surprised me. He was in excellent health otherwise.
GF, Sounds like you had a good old time at Mayberry Days. Good for ypou. Are both Fun Girls still with us? It was nice to hear that Thel was there. I understand she is not been doing well as of late. She seems like such a sweet spirit.
With this cooler weather I have been spending some quality time in my shop, cleaning and organizing. I have even thrown out some old worn out tools GF. It has been hard, but it must be done. I plan on getting things ready to set up for a tool sale. The stuff should be used, not just sit on my shelf and get dusty. I think I have at least 4 of everything. Silly me.
Well I think I will go rustle up some breakfast. I have a powerful hunger this morning for some reason. If it wasn't Sunday I might go get a breakfast burrito at Carls, but I don't like to do that on the Sabbath so I reckon I can scramble an egg or two. Maybe some french toast. That sounds good.
You all have a great day.

Asa, Both the original Fun Girls are gone, but I did have the pleasure of meeting Jean Carson in person and have documented proof of her planting the ”Money Shot” as she called it on my cheek 💋....*That deep voice was real too, not just the actor in the Woman either!...

Haha! Love your comments about being reincarnated as my dog. She does have a pretty cushy life, I guess. Actually, years ago, we had a very young girl as a patient aide on the floor where I worked. It was just a few months after my Dale had passed, and my son in Florida had sent me a ticket to fly out there for a week. When our little aide heard that I would be taking Sugarplum with me, she said, "Shooeee, here I am, 21 years old, and I ain't never been farther than Corsicana (about 40 miles), never been on an airplane, and here her dog is going to fly to Florida! When I die, I want to come back as her dog!" Then later my son bought his 6-seat Cessna, and came to pick us up in it. I thought we were going to have to revive that kid when she heard about that! She just about fainted when she heard the Plum and I were going to fly in a light plane being piloted by my son.
Well, time for some wheeler time. Or maybe I'll fix an early supper, just something light, and then get in my chair. I should get some laundry done, maybe vacuum a couple of rooms, and clean a bathroom, but it's Sunday, and I ain't a-gonna do it! Maybe tomorrow afternoon, instead. Got to teach ESL in the morning, if we have any students. We're having a hard time getting our attendance back up, after COVID cancelled it last summer. We used to have about 60-75 students. Last week we had four.

MDC, when you mentioned that you liked that video with the driver exiting his vehicle through the trunk, that reminded me of a funny incident. I used to own a 1990 Oldsmobile sedan that had an access from the rear seats into the trunk. When my nephews were younger and were in my car, they loved folding down the middle seat to climb into the trunk. One time when I had to do some grocery shopping, they came along and spent most of the ride in the trunk. When I parked in the store parking lot and got out of the driver seat, the trunk popped open and my nephews climbed out from the trunk. You should have seen the shocked looks we got from other folks in the parking lot. I will never forget that.

Good morning, porch! I have a few minutes this morning, then have to head for the church for ESL class. I hope we have a few more this morning, compared to last week. COVID really did a number on our classes. I don't know if the folks are just still afraid to be in groups, or what the problem is, Certainly there's no lack in folks who need the classes, and I hear there's another huge caravan headed our way from south of the border.
PH, that is a very funny story. I'll bet those folks were shocked indeed, at the heartless uncle who made his nephews ride in the trunk! It's a wonder someone didn't call the police! Before Tillie, I had another Caddy that had that same access. I never had kids crawl through it, but I was hauling some light lumber home one day, it wouldn't fit in the car, and stuck out too far if I tied the trunk lid down on it. So, I opened that little access thing, stuck the lumber through it from the trunk, and put the console down in the front seat, pushed the lumber through into the front seat, and brought it home. Carried that batch of 8' lumber home just fine! I think Tillie has that feature as well, though I've never used it.
Poor Trinket. She's going to be an unhappy puppy today, as I'm going to be gone most of the day. Got to be at the church by 9, finish there by 11, then go to PetSmart for Trinket food and maybe a toy (which of course she badly needs!), then to the grocery store to replenish my pantry, then to the pharmacy to pick up this month's pill supply (ugh!), then home briefly to put groceries away. She'll forgive me quickly. Then, she will be horrified when I put her back in the bathroom, to stay while I go to the audiologist for an adjustment on my hearing aids. Forgiveness may come a little slower when I get home. She doesn't hold grudges, but she's very good at demonstrating her displeasure. Gotta love her! Thanks for your kind words, Asa, regarding my love for my furkids. I consider them a gift from God. This big old house would be so empty without her. As I've said before, she is the other heartbeat in an otherwise lonely house. My family, fortunately, understands and shares my feelings. All my kids have dogs, and there are now two cats who have joined the lineup. All sweet and loving, not a clinker in the bunch! The cats and dogs get along very well, and when there's a squabble, the cats are usually the instigators, and it's all in fun.
Hmmm. I just saw two little juvenile squirrels chasing each other on a tree trunk! That's unusual, since they were probably born in March to May, and should be fully grown by now. These little guys probably haven't been out of the nest more than a month. So cute! I think I'll go put some seed out.
Well, off I go. Blessings, friends, and keep looking up! --Romeena

Greeting all! RO- I hope your busy day went well. My wife and I are sort of the
same way, we try to get a lot done in one day, especially during our summers.
PH, that was pretty funny, oh that terrible man! ha
So Facebook and Instagram went down for quite a while today!
I actually saw people walking and looking straight ahead for a change! :)
I am determined not to be dominated with those things. I have a flip phone that can get
calls, texts, and capture a pic or two. That's all I need.
I see these kids with their heads buried in their phones as they cross streets, etc. so sad.
When I used to write term papers, and then assign them as a teacher, the kids actually had
some 'work' to do. Get to the library, look things up in an encyclopedia, write the paper, etc.
Now they can find papers on the net and just copy them, doing very little actual research. Very sad.
Some will never know what 'ibid' means.
OK, I'll be good.
ASA-I heard that your church had a big conference this past weekend on the state of our world.
Would have liked to have seen that! And I am so sorry that your friend has died. My condolences.
BTW, I saw a color episode of The Fugitive last night. Wow, first a Perry Mason and now the Fugitive! I thought all of both were just B/W.
I've also am now seeing medicare commercials with Jimmy Walker, and we thought Joe Nameth ones
was bad. I actually feel sorry for JJ. His gestures are so strained.
BOO-how goes things these days with the family?
Hope everyone is well.
Prayers,
MDC

Good morning, porch! A beautiful day here, bright and sunny, with a light breeze, a temp of only 77° at the moment, and an expected high of just 86°. Eddie is coming to do the yard, and I'm sure he's going to appreciate the cooler weather. Ha! That reminds me of something my younger son asked me when he was just a little boy. He heard me say "warmth" in reference to something, and he asked, "Mom, you said 'warmth.' Do we say 'coolth' too?"
The solid logic of a child!
MDC, I hear what you're saying, regarding young folks with their noses stuck in their phones. Unfortunately, I've discovered that there are a lot of very nice jigsaw puzzle site on that dratted phone, and I'm now missing half the action on my favorite TV shows, because I'm doing a jigsaw puzzle at the same time. It's pretty bad when you have to charge your phone twice in one evening! My phone is a Samsung Note, an android, so the screen surface is quite generous, works well for jigsaw puzzles. It's amazing, what can be done on a phone these days. I can even adjust my hearing aids through a site on my phone! I can turn on the ceiling fan in my living room with my phone. And get this! My son can be standing in the middle of a supermarket, wondering whether they are out of milk at home, and he can pull up a picture of the inside of his refrigerator, to see if there's milk in there! Of course, the fridge has a lot to do with that, but the phone cooperates. The fridge will also send a "ding" to him to tell him that someone didn't shut the door tightly, and he can call home and tell them to go back and shut that door! My parents would never believe all this. They never even got a cell phone, because they tried to use mine on a road trip, and couldn't make it work. Makes me wonder what's coming, that I won't understand. Actually, it already has, because my phone baffles me at times, and I get my son or a grandson to set up whatever I'm trying to do with it.
Well, Eddie will be here shortly, to do the yard, and I'm still sitting here in my sleepshirt, guess I'd better get some clothes on. I'm decent, in this big old shirt, but still....
Blessings, friends! Keep looking up! --Romeena

Oh, one more thing. MDC, ditto on Joe Namath and JJ. Joe is so, well, smarmy. Makes me want to just slap him. As for JJ, he's pitiful. That last little scream - "it's FREEEEEE!" is so annoying. All the implication in that "FREEEEEE" just turns me off. "Grab it, folks, it's freeee! Free stuff, get it while you can!" Don't people know that there is nothing actually free? Anytime you get something free, you can be sure that someone, somewhere, is paying for it. Taxpayers, mostly. --Romeena
