Good morning, porch! Well, it was a quiet Halloween around here. Not one trick-or-treater! My doorbell never rang, and my cameras didn't record any visitors. Though I miss the little costumed kids - they're always so cute - I don't miss the six-footers that used to show up very late, no costumes, just a ratty-looking bag that they'd hold out. That part seemed, even last year, to be declining, most likely because they knew they were probably on camera!
I'm up, showered, and getting ready to go to church this morning. It's a beautiful day, chilly at 49°, but not really cold, and no wind. It's the wind that bothers me more than anything else, and there is none today, just the occasional little light breeze. So heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it's off to church I go! The on-line services, on our church's Facebook site, have been wonderful, but there's nothing like corporate worship. The body of the church, all coming together in one accord. The Bible commands it this way: Hebrews 10:25, KJV: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." "Exhorting", of course, means encouraging one another, and we certainly need that these days! I think we had better take advantage of every opportunity, while we still can.
Well, off I go. Trinket will be offended when I leave her, but she'll get over it. I may even take the opportunity to go to lunch with some friends after services. We'll see. Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

Well, once again I swept the porch. This is getting to be a habit. Trinket says if she was a little taller, she'd dust the rockers with her tail, but she just can't quite reach them. She's bigger than Toye Starr, but not that much bigger. --Romeena

RO and all, we chose to keep our porch light off this year.
I live at the bottom of a "U" shaped street, and looking up both sides of the U only two lights were on. But we 'normally'
only get about 10 the past several years anyway, as the kids have grown up, and many original owners are still here. I hope your church service went well today.
BOO--is this going to be the first presidential election
for Erin? I can still remember mine back a few years ago. ha
Today in church we sang 'How Great Thou Art,' loud enough for all of
California to hear! :)
On Tuesday, all Catholic churches across America will be open for a whole day of prayer called "Adoration for Our Nation."
On a TAGS note, I was watching a movie tonight, and the "Mom's Home Cooking" restaurant at the beginning of a "Miss Peggy episode" was used in the movie! Interesting to see it that way.

MDC, yes, this is Erin's first election and she voted early a week before I did. She couldn't wait to cast her vote for Biden. She is not a Trump supporter, as most LGBTQ people are not. This will be an election to remember, won't it? I made the mistake of watching a little news the last couple of days and I wish I hadn't. I really hate some of the things that are happening right now, especially in my own state. I hope and pray things calm down soon, however this plays out.
The weather here has been really wonderful. Today was sunny and cool in the shade with low humidity. I went outside and saw the most beautiful butterflies swarming all around our Lantana bushes. So beautiful! I saw something yesterday that I have never seen before...a baby hummingbird!! It was so little and cute. I didn't have my phone to take a picture but wish I had. The little thing was not more than three quarters of an inch long.
Been keeping fairly busy around here. On Halloween, had a few family members over for treats and a fire. Now I am sorting and trying to organize and get rid of things I don't use to prepare for Christmas decorating. Lots of folks around here are starting early with the decorating to try and lift their spirits.
Erin is driving in in the morning because she has an endoscopy scheduled for tomorrow in Corpus Christi. She is still experiencing nausea and vomiting daily so doc is trying the scope.
Hope all of you have a great evening. Blessings,

Oh, those of you who are older than I am, has their ever been a time in your lives that the citizens of our country have been more divided than now?
Boo
November 02, 2020 - Msg 115572:
BOO--I do not want to start any kind of 'moulage,' but as we are all adults here, I can say a big YES to your question.
A much bigger divide was around 1860 which led up to a very bitter civil war war here. hundreds of thousands lost their lives.
Also, in the late '60s, early '70s there was another very bitter divide
due to the vietnam war. There was definitely serious problems in our nation. I lived thru it as a college student. I saw colleges taken over by SDS and other groups, they even bombed some colleges,
it was very real and a very divided country. In a way, there has always been some division due to the nature of the two parties that have emerged from history. There were the Whigs and other parties in the early years, and even recently
there has been the other parties that have tried to upstart. As far as young voters go,
I think they have more tunnel vision over one or two issues rather than looking at the whole big picture, such as the real direction the whole country could go. I could go into examples, but as I said, no need for me to start a moulage at this point. :) As I saw on FB today... no matter who wins, I will still love all people,
and be as good a citizen as I can be. Life will go on until Jesus returns. :)
Well, I only caught the second tags on me-tv tonight...Gentleman Dan Caldwell,

Thanks for elaborating on the Vietnam war, MDC. What I was really interested in was personal experiences in our lifetime, so good to hear your perspective. I was too young to remember and really didn't learn much about the division until I was grown. I can remember my dad watching the evening news and seeing the war footage of Vietnam and it scared me to death as a child. Interestingly, it didn't really touch my family very personally because we didn't lose anyone close in that war. I had a dear cousin who was enlisted at the time but he wasn't in actual combat and come home. I would imagine there was much division in the south over segregation, too. Again, I was too young to really remember and in south Texas, we weren't really exposed to it, as there was no segregation in our schools. I have shared some of the stories my dad told about his growing up in Louisiana and then in east texas and he carried that horror with him to the end of his days. My dad was a sensitive and caring man and he taught us to love and appreciate all people.
Who posted the Granny for Possum Queen thing?! lol
Think I will go look at some of the election returns.

, I have vivid memories of unrest during the 1960s and early 1970s. From the riots at the Chicago Democratic National Convention and after Martin Luther King's assassination, both in 1968.
And between 1969 and 1970, the over 4,000 bombings of military and corporation buildings. Also, the anti-war movement severely divided the USA. My personal experience was minor. I wore a black arm band in school as a sign of support for the peace cause. How ironic that was since I later volunteered for military duty and Vietnam service.

Good morning, porch! (Barely, as it's 11:58 on my porch right now.) Beautiful day here, sunny and cool. I may try to get a little dusting and vacuuming done today, and this afternoon I have to take Trinket to her vet for a nail trim. Her groomer doesn't trim them close enough (I don't blame her, I won't even try to trim them) but her vet gets them just right. He has a way with fidgety and even aggressive animals. He's kind, but no nonsense, and they just usually quiet down and submit. He has cared for my furkids for about 40 years now, and is also a friend from church.
Well, I watched the election stuff until about 3 a.m., finally realized there would be no results for quite some time, and turned it off. I turned it back on this morning, same song, second verse, so it's off again.
I think my time is better spent in prayer. This nation is in trouble. We have a whole generation of young people, and even going back a generation, some middle-aged people who really have no idea what they're doing, or why. They see nothing wrong with it, they think they're right. Loot, pillage, destroy, violence - and they think it's going to solve something. I remember what my friend Eddie said (my friend who keeps my yard and who happens to be black) - he said one day that he doesn't understand what the predominantly black rioters, after the murder of George Floyd, thought they were accomplishing. As he put it, how did burning the little grocery store that was in walking distance of their grandmother's house, do anything to avenge the murder of Mr. Floyd? All it did was to make life harder for Granny! He was right. This world has gone insane.
As I read over the memories of some of you, it strikes me that I remember farther back than any of you. I'm sure I'm the "old lady" of the porch. Can anybody clearly remember the WWII years? I can. I'm 81 now, born in 1939. I know some of you aren't too far behind me, but I think I've still got a few years on everybody. I remember Roosevelt's "fireside chats" on the radio, and I remember the victory parades on VE day and VJ day. I remember the enormous tanks, rumbling down Houston street in San Antonio, and the cannons (yes, cannons, or some sort of big gun) being towed behind Army jeeps. I was standing on the curb with my parents, and could have reached out and touched the men in the infantry units that marched by. I remember standing as straight and tall as I could, hand over heart, as the flags were carried by, and the drum and bugle corps units that played such stirring music. I promise you, no one took a knee when the flags passed, everyone stood if they were physically able, men removed their hats, women dabbed at their eyes, or just let the tears flow. It was a different world. There was a spirit of unity.
Yes, there was segregation, sadly, but even then, it was beginning to be questioned, and a lot of white people, including my parents, just didn't think it was right. There were still hard-shell holdouts, but the idea was growing. It finally boiled over when the Supreme Court ordered desegregation in 1954, I think it was. In 1955, the first black student enrolled in our little country high school (51 kids in our graduating class in 1956) and we had three in 1956. As I've said earlier, it was never a problem in our school. The kids were nice, all good students, one was a good athlete, and they were welcome. If we had any racial incidents, I was not aware of it. Why can't it be that way today? There is no division in heaven. If God set it up that way in His kingdom, why do we think we are justified in setting one group above another on earth? We are all His children.
Well, enough of that. I'll just be glad when this election thing is over. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

MDC, thanks so much for keeping in touch with Pappabear for us. That is very kind. I hope he will be on the Christmas card list again this year. I always like sending him a card.
Yes, I am already thinking about Christmas and trying to keep my mind off the political madness. I went upstairs and went through all my Christmas decorations, separated out the old to throw away or give away and got everything together to bring down when I am ready. I do this every year and I have gotten down to about a third of what I had when we moved in here. Its a good feeling. I figure by the time we retire and move, I will have a very manageable stash. I have been on a kind of program to declutter my house and I do a little each day to keep from being overwhelmed. I don't really have a lot of visible clutter, but I have so much stuff in drawers and cabinets and the upstairs storage that I never use. Stuff just accumulates over the years. The problem is that right now the charity shops aren't accepting donations because many are closed. Its hard to know what to do with things that aren't trash.
Well, next week St Susan and I will take a trip to Aldi and see what thanksgiving shopping we can do there. We find that we can shop at a considerable savings at Aldi. I will get my turkey locally, though, as well as any dairy items so they will be fresh for thanksgiving. I finally found fresh cranberries in the grocery store this week so will be starting my homemade cranberry sauce soon. Its a hobby of mine. I love the stuff and like to mix it up a little and try different ingredients. This year I am going to add orange marmalade!
I saw Erin this week for a visit and she seems to be doing well. I know she is sober and claims she has been for 9 months. She certainly seems to be her old self before substance abuse. She seems happy, too. She is talking about wanting to go ahead and try and get her CNA this coming year since she seems to have the anxiety under control now. Now that she isn't living off mom and dad's dime, she is seeing the benefit of education. lol
Sean is still working at the auto parts place and has learned so much there. He has applied for a couple of contract jobs on the navy base in Corpus Christi, that offer much better pay and benefits but its not always easy to get those jobs. He needs insur@nce when he turns 26 next year so we are praying. Please send up a prayer for Sean's employment. He needs to find something he can do that will support him and provide insur@nce for his medical needs. We are hoping his certificate in automotive tech and his experience with parts will help. One of the jobs he has applied for is working in the parts supply areas, which would be ideal. I know he could do it, physically. Right now he works 10 hour days on his feet (boss doesn't allow sitting at any time), and he does a good share of lifting, so I think he could do it.
Bruce is doing well and is looking forward to a short hunting trip at a nearby wildlife refuge. He hasn't been hunting in 10 years so I will be surprised if he is able to even shoot anything. He has gotten very softhearted. I think he just likes the fun of playing little boy in the woods for a day. lol
Not much else to report. Im trying to keep myself positive so my tummy troubles wont flare up. So far, so good. I ate pinto beans for the first time in months yesterday (no gas jokes, please!). lol I had to put them to the test to see if I could eat them now. I haven't really had any trouble so hurray!
Hope all of you are doing well. I have seen a report about cases of Covid surging so please be careful and safe.

Good afternoon, porch. You're right, Boo, it would be "sell." Good for you, getting that de-cluttering done. I reeaallly need to do that, on a major scale. If you can imagine, I have lived in this house since 1973, and much more has come in than has gone out. It took a full-size commercial moving van, with bicycles and lawn mowers riding on a deck extension, a big Buick station wagon loaded to the gills, and a Cadillac sedan loaded as well, to move us from San Antonio. After we moved here, I discovered the old Fiestaware pottery, a jolting memory from my childhood, and began attending flea markets and collecting it. I now have about 600 pieces of it. I also have about 75 pieces of the new Fiesta, chosen in colors that very closely match two of the old colors. I use it every day, and on special occasions, I use the old, mixed in with the new, especially platters and other serving pieces. Most of the time, only I know which is which. Furniture has been added, because this house is bigger than the one we left. The sun room has been added and furnished. My children, of course, all moved out years ago, but all they took was their clothing, and left all the mementoes, trophies, books, etc., behind in their rooms, and pretty much expect them to still be there when they come home, the little weasels. I would never dispose of any of their things, but I wouldn't mind at all if they would take charge of them!
As for me, I've got a closet full of clothing that I can no longer wear. When you lose 50 lbs, that happens. Everything I own hangs on me like a gunnysack. I have to walk for two minutes before my clothes start moving! I've bought new clothes in an appropriate size, but there's no room in the closet for them. I've got an armload over in a local resale store, but the place is so crammed full that no one will ever find my stuff. Many of the local outlets, like the Salvation Army and such, are not accepting things right now due to COVID. Someone needs to tell them that leaving new arrivals in an isolation room for a few days would make them acceptable for use. Here's a good source for info on the durability of the virus: https://www.webmd.com/lung/how-long-covid-19-lives-on-surfaces.
Eloise and I went to Cracker Barrel for lunch today, and I bought three of their beautiful Christmas sweatshirts, on sale. They carry such pretty sweatshirts, with the little extra band at the neckline that gives them a layered-look. I had several Christmas shirts, but when I tried one on last week, it looked like a family of gypsies had moved out, so I needed new ones. I love pretty Christmas shirts.
Well, better run. Tonight is bunco, and I need to pick Eloise up. She has trouble seeing at night, so doesn't usually drive after dark. Once again, we're just going to meet and play, no dinner, thanks to COVID, but I brought enough home from my lunch to have a good dinner when I get home. We start playing at 5:30, too early to eat first, but I'll be home at least by nine, so no problem.
Blessings, everyone. Pray for America. We're going to need it. --Romeena

Good afternoon, porch. I expected to be in the yard, working alongside Eddie, trying to get it all under control, winterized, etc., but Eddie called to tell me he's not coming today. His newly-replaced knee is giving him a fit, and the doc can't see him until 11/12. Eddie is a tough old bird, and definitely not a pill-taker, but he needs some help right now. When he doesn't show up for work, he's hurting. I told him to stay home, and today and tomorrow to stay off the knee other than just normal in-house activity, alternate hot and cold packs, and take Advil. He says he will, and I think he will. I could hear the pain in his voice. As for my yard, it will keep.
Trinket is perfect comic relief for me right now. She's having a spaz attack, running through the house at top speed, growling, grabbing toys and tossing them, then comes in and plops at my feet, panting, only to get up again in about a minute and do it all again. She's hilarious. She's such a little treasure. Actually, I almost named her Treasure, but settled on Trinket instead. I don't know how people survive without a loving little dog around, or a big old loving dog, either one. I love big dogs. I don't want one for myself, a tiny dog fits my lifestyle better, but I really do enjoy other people's big dogs. My daughter's Golden was such a dog. Beautiful, about 75 lbs, and just a big old love sponge. I consider dogs to be one of God's sweeter gifts on this earth. I know the ones who have passed through my life have helped me through some very hard times. When everyone else has gone home, as they should, my dogs have remained, close by my side.
Well, I think I'll try to get a little de-cluttering done today. I just don't know where to start. Christmas stuff has overflowed from the closets in three bedrooms and a hallway closet, and is now encircling the bed in one bedroom. That's ridiculous. I'm tempted to just put it out on the driveway with a sign that says "Help yourself!", but sure as I do, the kids will ask me where such-and-such is and then wail that they miss it! Besides, it's all "old friend" stuff, centuries old, and I'd miss it too! I think I'm in danger of becoming a hoarder, like on TV!
Phooey! Maybe I'll just go eat some lunch and watch TV! Or maybe I'll just stay here at my window and watch the squirrels. There are at least four of them out there, and they're having a little squirrel hoe-down! So cute.
Or maybe I'll go throw some diatomaceous earth around the foundation outside. I've noticed some ants in the kitchen, and I'm not having that. They're weird little things, too. Small, very fast-moving, and act like they're all confused. I think they're those "crazy ants" that I've read about. They came in the country a few years ago on some ships, and are spreading rapidly. DE around the foundation will get them, and I've already thrown some into the back of the cabinet under the sink. Also, I have a tempered glass cutting board beside the sink, which has little 1/4" feet on it. I've noticed the ants run under there when I get close by, so I put a light layer of DE on the counter beneath it. That should get a lot of them. I love DE. It's totally harmless to people and pets (I buy the food-grade DE), but it's deadly to any insect with an exoskeleton, like ants. It's called food-grade, because some people do add it to the feed given to pets or livestock, as it serves as a de-wormer. You can put it on a dog to kill fleas, too. I put it around the foundation of the house about twice a year, and never have a problem with roaches or termites. It's relatively cheap, and is amazing stuff.
Does anyone else use Thunderbird as your email server? I've used it for years, love it, and at the moment I've done something to it that has it all boogered up and I don't know how to fix it. "Help", as always with any program, is no help at all. Anybody got any ideas?
Well, off I go. A little lunch is sounding better all the time. Blessings, friends! --Romeena

I think I will actually use the china at Thanksgiving this year and will try to bring out the Christmas dishes during December. I should be using things, not just keeping them in the cabinets.
I helped St. Susan sort through some of her Christmas decorations today and we are getting together tonight to repair some things. For years she has collected a type of Santa. I think the company is called Clothtique. She made the mistake of letting her grandchildren play with them and they are in dire need of repair...some amputees, headless, and hatless! lol
Ro, I agree with you completely concerning our pups. My little girl keeps me company every day. We seem to be having a problem with some skin allergies recently and I am going to have to make a trip to the vet. She takes the flea pill so no fleas but she has been scratching and I can feel some little places on her skin. She is also starting to smell bad, even shortly after a bath so something isn't right. Seems its always something.
Think I will go put my feet up for a few minutes before she gets here. Hope you are all well.

BOO-I have heard commercials for something called Dinovite that is supposed to clear up skin issues on dogs. Here is a link: https://tinyurl.com/yy33mbfy
I guess you will be getting out your Firestone and Goodyear albums soon! ha
RO- I recall seeing fiestaware on the Road Show a while back, and some of it
was pretty valuable. Concerning Eddie, I wonder if he did ALL his rehab. Stopping knee rehab is the worst thing that one can do.
Yes, it is tedious, but worth it. (2 close friends have had theirs done.)
Boy, I feel like I've been punched in the gut tonight, but I am trying to stay positive, and hope and pray. One thing for sure, I will not pillage anything! ha I'll stop there with that.
Last night I saw both TAGS eps. The first was about old man Weaver foreclosing on
the Scobeys. For such a friendly town, ya gotta wonder why Weaver was there! LOL The second episode was about Quiet Sam. I really liked Barney's acting in that one. I think Sam was Patty Dukes father and her show. Also, in the one the night before about the inspector there is the
"frog giggin'" line. :)
APB for ASA, GF, FRANKIE, BIG MAUDE AND ALL!
Good Sabbath to you all,

Good morning, porch. I just got back from "church" - closed my Facebook connection. I was planning to attend the real service this morning, as I did last week, but woke up with old Arthur-itis sitting in too many joints. So annoying. Still, I was able to attend our service, and even "participate" just a bit, using the sidebar comment section. We use that to greet one another. I think the evil one is trying to sabotage our services, though. Last week and the week before, the Facebook connection just didn't work at all, and this week the sound was all wonky, lots of static, but still mostly understandable. I can't help but wonder if Facebook is involved there. They have been proven to censor a lot of things with religious content. Now, with the election going the way it appears to have gone, I would imagine we're going to see a lot more of that sort of thing. So sad.
Boo, yes, I do have a lot of Fiesta. I have a lot of it in a built-in hutch in the kitchen, and the more choice pieces are displayed in a hutch that's part of my dining room furniture. The new Fiesta is actually just in my kitchen cabinets and is used every day. Some of the old stuff is in there as well, and is used daily. The small bowls, several of the serving bowls, and some small dessert plates. My collection of the old is pretty extensive. I've got a full set of the seven nesting mixing bowls, all in fine condition. The colors are mixed, but that really doesn't matter much. To most people, the whole idea with Fiesta was to mix the colors. I have five large chop plates, three small chop plates, and six large oval platters. Also a coffee pot, and the very scarce carafe, in Fiesta Red, which is the most scarce color of all. I've got two teapots with lids, a set of the tiny stick-handle demitasse cups and saucers, three gravy boats, several salt and pepper shakers, lots of extra saucers, large dinner plates, smaller luncheon plates, about fifteen coffee mugs, six little juice tumblers, ten large tumblers, and a Tom and Jerry bowl with six mugs. I have ashtrays, two fruit compotes, two relish tray sets, and a lot more odds and ends, even a couple of vases. My mom had Fiesta when I was small, and when I walked into a flea market one day shortly after we moved here, I saw a pitcher (I have two now) just like the one that was always in our fridge so my dad could have cold water when he wanted it. It just grabbed my heart, and I had to have it. I paid a whole $4 for it in 1974, and I just saw it online for $185. Now I have to remember that the prices you see online are what it would cost me to buy it. If I want to sell mine, since I don't have a shop, and shipping is a problem when selling it myself, I would have to sell to a shop and they're going to give me half or less of what they will ask for the same item. So, for now, I'm just keeping it. I suppose I should investigate a bit further. I may have a lot of money sitting in my cabinets. One thing for sure, my children won't garage-sale it, they'll get what it's worth. Both daughters and my granddaughter are more savvy about such things than I am.
I just remembered a purchase I made in about 1976. Dale and I were at a flea market, and I found a seller who had about 30 pieces of Fiesta spread out on a card table, including a teapot, an ashtray, and some ring-handle coffee mugs. It was the end of the day, and the lady looked tired. I asked the price of a couple of items. She looked at the table, and at the box sitting on the ground beneath the table, and said, "Give me $40 and you can have it all." I did, of course. When I got it home, I got out my little tattered Fiesta value book, and learned that I had $400 worth of dishes in that box, if my guide was to be believed. At that point, Dale stopped grumbling about the $40!
MDC, according to Eddie, he has completed his rehab. At least he said the doctor told him he was finished with it. Personally, I think he got back to work a little soon, but try and stop him. He'll be okay, it just takes time.
Well, better go see about some lunch. Trinket thinks so, too. Blessings, friends! --Romeena

Wow, that is a lot of it, Ro, and you could probably make some money from it but, as you said, it would take someone who knows how to get you what it's worth. I don't think I have ever owned a piece of fiestaware. I have a little Fire King and old Pyrex but not much. I am sitting here trying to figure out if I collect anything. I have about 20 Gooseberry Patch cookbooks because I used to collect them but I hardly ever even open one anymore. I guess I collect a lot of Christmas decorations. I have a village and lots of ornaments. Other than that, I cant really think of anything. I am one of the strange creatures who feels uncomfortable with a lot of things around me. I like open spaces..maybe some weird form of claustrophobia? Some people feel secure by having things around them. We are all different.
I had lunch at a good Mexican food place today and tried something I had ever had called chicken flautas. Boy, they were outstanding! I am hoping they wont bother my stomach tomorrow! So far so good. They weren't spicy at all.
St Susan and I are going to take a little day trip tomorrow with Emily who has a day off from school tomorrow. I am looking forward to that.
Hope you all are well and blessed.

Good afternoon, porch! Oh, my goodness - Boo, I love chicken flautas! Now, as with anything else, there are flautas, and there are flautas. Some are good, some are awful. Good ones are a blessing! There's a little restaurant in Fredericksburg that serves really good ones. El Fenix here in Irving serves them, and they're good, but not wonderful. The very best ones I've ever eaten were made with very thin flour tortillas, not corn. The tortillas were thin enough that they fried up nice and crispy, no soft doughy spots. I had them at a place in San Antonio years ago, can't even remember the name of the cafe. Most places use corn tortillas, and they're good, but those flour tortillas were really different, and so good.
Has anyone else noticed the lack of violent protest following the election? I can only imagine what the country would be like right now if it had gone the other way. That should tell us something about the attitude and the mindset of many of the "other half." The sad thing is, so many of the Left are not that way, but enough are that they do all the damage and get all the attention, and that leads the Right to believe that they're all that way. Many Democrats are good and honest people, and have not yet realized that their party has left them, and is now actually a Socialist party, and willing to do anything to gain power, even violence if that's what it takes. Please, God, never let the Right fall into that trap. Actually, I think there's actually a third group, neither right nor left, that seeks to gain power, and they're using our Left party like the monkey used the cat's paw, to reach in where things are too hot and stir up trouble. Their rhetoric (also known as "kool-aid" sounds so good and charitable and so underdog-friendly, that too many people are fooled. Once that element gains enough power, and I think we would all be surprised to learn who some of them are, they will assume control and America as we know her will be lost. It has already begun. It makes me sad.
Well, my grandson - one of Heather's boys - is in town on business, and the family is going to dinner somewhere tonight. I've had my shower and washed my hair, so not much more to do to get ready, but guess I'd better start closing the gaps. Poor Trinket will be upset when she gets left at home, but she'll get over it. That's one of the many wonderful things about a dog - they don't hold a grudge! Very forgiving little creatures, we should be more like them. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

Good evening all! I sure hope everyone is doing OK, as there seems to be a lot of rocking chairs available recently. Prayers for all.
RO--anything further about your water leak?
I sure hope it is not going to be a big issue!
A curious question for you...when growing up as a teen in the '50s, did you get
into rock and roll at all.? I perceive you to be more of a country music gal, but may be way off base. ha
Speaking of that, tonite's ep was about the return of Jim Lindsey, and Barn mentions Jim's big hit "Rock and Roll Rosie from Raleigh!" :)
No one has mentioned the passing of Alex Trebek. Another good man leaves us. There was a very good documentary of his life on TV last night. May he rest in peace. I didnt realize thsat he did al lot of charitable work behind the scenes.
BOO- a while back you mentioned about our 'divided' country in terms of the election; well, I found this interesting youtube presentation
on all the presidential elections. It scrolls pretty quickly, so you have to stop it now and then. In several early elections there were 4 or 5 guys running for the office, which really split up the vote, but right around 1840, the votes cast were pretty even, back and forth. very interesting! here is the link:

I think Cecile and I are going to drive to Payson AZ on Wed. (about 90 miles north.) They got some snow on Sunday, so were going to check it out! :) BOO- how did your day trip go? I'm glad you are more relaxed these days!
ASA--did you all get any snow from this cold front. Have you had to fire up 'helen' yet?
Possum, spot, Maudie and all, check in when you can. We're gonna give you the extra 5 MPH on the
grade approaching the porch. :)
Later all,
