Apparently it was something unique to the previous page that has been archived. It's got the heebee jeebees.

Hooray! Floyd to the rescue. He's Santa, a Power Ranger and Batman, all rolled into one! Thanks for fixing the bold porch - you're our hero.
What a beautiful day!! Clear blue skies with just a few puffy little white clouds, bright sunshine, temp at 55° and getting warmer, squirrels running all over the yard, plowing through drifts of leaves, birds perched in the trees with their feathers all fluffed up, letting the warm sun get through to their bodies. Almost all of the leaves are gone from the trees now, except for that stubborn sycamore, and I love it because I can see all lthe activity that takes place in the trees now. Birds everywhere, and those little acrobatic squirrels performing amazing feats of agility and daring. They're so much fun to watch!
There wasn't much activity out there yesterday, and I finally found out why, when a big hawk dropped down and lit on a bare tree branch. All of my little friends stayed out of sight though, and finally, after a couple of hours the hawk flew away. They are so bold, and so deadly. I'll never forget the day I was standing out in the back yard, with several pigeons gathered nearby. Suddenly, with no warning at all, a hawk dropped out of the sky like a falling rock, grabbed a pigeon that was about eight feet away from me, and flew away with it, the poor pigeon just flapping its wings and struggling, but it couldn't get free. No mercy from that hawk! It about broke my heart. Pigeons mate for life, and when the flock scattered after the attack, one lonely one stayed behind for a while, just walking around in the yard. I know it was the mate, and I understood exactly how it was feeling, poor thing. I know hawks have to eat too, but I wish they'd just eat something annoying, like that miserable rat I had in the garage for a while.
Well, I'm off to put some more twinkle lights in some more bushes. I love the lights, the more the merrier! It is a birthday party, after all - so why not decorate and make things festive? --Romeena

OK, I'm back.
I tested using both Opera and AOL, and everything seems to be normal on my Windows PC. But I did notice something unusual.
Yes, it is true that I can see that the date and Msg number are bold whereas the rest of each post is not bold. However, when comparing the two browsers side by side, the Opera non-bold text is darker than the AOL non-bold text. But since I can see a differentiate between the bold and non-bold in both browsers, I believe we can live with this.
I still would like to read some feedback from Sterling Holobyte and Billy Ray the Postman.

And Poor Horatio, thank you for trying to help me out with this. I did empty the memory cache, as well as a bunch of other things, last night, but it didn't work. Albeit, I did it a different way than in the Youtube video you posted, as I was kind of afraid I might do some damage doing it the way it was done in that video, as I read some of the comments below it and it seemed to screw things up for some people.
So I just went through "Tools" and "Delete Private Data" and then checked off a bunch of stuff. But like I said, it didn't work that way.

Hey Ro and Boo, I tried my hand at making some gravy from scratch yesterday, and it worked out pretty decent. I was very pleased. Some butter, flour, and chicken stock, and bam, gravy. I know, some may be reading this and laughing at me for bragging on such a thing, but it wasn't that long ago that I couldn't even boil water. But with coaching and encouragement from some of the folks here, and from my Daughters, I can survive at least.

Oh, congratulations on the gravy, Asa. I knew you could do it. Apparently you've mastered the art of making a roux, using a melted fat (the butter), blending some flour into it until it's smooth, and then slowly stirring in the liquid of your choice. Now you're ready to venture into all sorts of gravies. One of these cold mornings, make some sausage gravy. So good over a biscuit! Using ground sausage (not links), just fry up a handful of sausage, stir your flour into the resulting drippings (you can leave the crumbled sausage in the pan) and once the flour is blended, add some milk and keep stirring. A wooden spoon seems to work best for this, at least it does for me. The rule of thumb for amounts is a heaping tablespoon of flour to each cup of milk. Some folks shake the flour and milk together and just add it to the drippings, skipping the "roux" part, but I like to brown the flour a little in the drippings. Improves the flavor, and you don't want the gravy to taste "raw."
I made pork chop gravy last night, for Dave and Brittney and the boys, and apparently it was good, because they practically licked the pan. When you make that kind, after frying chops or steak or chicken, you obviously would have too much oil in the pan (to fry the meat) so you have to drain most of it off. Just pour carefully, and try not to disturb the browned residue in the pan - it flavors the gravy - just pour off the clear oil. Leave approximately a tablespoon of oil for each tablespoon of flour you plan to use. You want the flour to be fully incorporated with oil so it won't lump, but you don't want free oil floating after you've blended in the flour. If that happens, you'll have streaks of free oil floating on your gravy, too. Not necessarily a bad thing if it's just a tiny bit, but it's better if it's not there. Then just add salt and pepper to taste, and (my secret) a pinch of sugar. Just a pinch. You have the basic principles down now, apparently, so branch out and experiment. You can make any kind of gravy! Very soon, you'll forget all about tablespoons, and your eye will tell you how much oil to leave in the pan, how much flour to add, and you'll add your liquid until the gravy is the consistency you want. You can do this! I'm so proud of you.
Well, I have a beautiful avocado in the kitchen, and I'm going to make some delicious guacamole. Did I tell you what I've discovered about buying avocados? The ones in the grocery stores are always so bruised, because so many people walk by and squeeze them to see if they're ripe. Well, I've been buying them at Braum's (the ice cream store) in their little grocery section. Very few people actually shop in there for groceries, so the avocados don't get mashed! They're usually cheaper than at Kroger, too. Yesterday they had big beautiful ones for .99, and Kroger wanted 1.59 for some little squished nubbins.
Well, have a peaceful Sabbath, folks. I have to make a home health visit later on, but for now, I'm going to make my guacamole! Blessings, friends. --Romeena

In the stores, you can find "Christmas" stuff galore, and at relatively reasonable prices, but it's all secular. Nothing with a religious message. The nearest I've found is a lone angel, at a Lowe's store, and it wasn't an especially nice one, either. Such a shame.

Good evening, porch. I just got home from attending the annual Christmas party for the church deacons and their wives. They traditionally continue to invite the widows of deacons who have passed, so I'm invited each year, as Dale was a deacon. They see to it that someone picks us up and brings us home, and we're seated at the table with our escort and his wife. It's a kind and thoughtful gesture, and I appreciate it. The first few years after Dale passed, I declined the invitation - just couldn't handle going without him - but I finally got past that, and now I appreciate the evening very much. My good friend LaRue is also the widow of a deacon, so we were picked up and escorted by the same man. His wife is our SS teacher and dear friend, so we had a happy little group at our table. The food was marvelous - catered by a nice Italian restaurant, and was so good. Now I'm back home with my sweet little Toye Starr, in my jammies, all comfy, and life is good.
My nativity set is all properly displayed, and I'm almost finished with the snowman convention on the mantel. I canNOt find the greenery garland that I usually drape the front of the mantel with. Can't imagine what I did with it. Anyway, I pieced something together out of stuff I had stashed away, and it looks okay, but I don't like it as well as I do the one I can't find. Oh well. Ten years from now, it won't matter! In fact, it doesn't matter now.
I have waaay yonder too much Christmas stuff. I absolutely must sift through it and give away or donate some of it. My girls have taken some of it, and I wish they'd take more. All three spare bedroom closets barely have room for guests to hang a few clothes, as the rest of the space is filled with Christmas stuff. In fact, it has overflowed in one bedroom, and is stacked waist high in the room. That's ridiculous. I've got a lot of other stuff piled around, too. I need to do something about it before my kids schedule an intervention! It's just hard, because there are memories attached to everything.
Well, guess I'll go finish the snowman convention, and then relax for a while. Blessings, everyone. --Romeena

Good morning, porch. Brr! Spot, sorry it's so cold there in Georgia. I'm glad you don't have to climb the poles anymore, but can stay warm beside your computer array. I always feel so bad for the folks who have to work outdoors when winter comes. Thank God they're willing to do it, or we'd all be cold, and in the dark.
You asked us to post local temps. It's 46° in the Dallas area, at 8:30 a.m. We have a predicted high of 65°, and that's expected to hold up through next Monday, with at least one day of hitting the 70s. It's very pleasant, and Im enjoying it, but a lot of things are trying to bud or even bloom, and eventually they're going to get frozen back. January and February can be brutal around here, at least by our standards.
Well, gotta run. I have an ESL class to teach this morning. I think we're going to discuss the many manifestations of the word "natal" as it refers to birth, both in English and in Spanish. The notion crossed my mind as I was putting my nativity display out. That "Nat" beginning is found in a lot of words, all referring somehow to one's birth or origins. You can even follow it through translations between languages. The "t" changes to a "c" in Spanish and the accent shifts - national/nacional - but the resemblance is easy to see. Once they figure that out, it helps them to remember the English that corresponds to their Spanish. Right now all my students are Spanish speakers, with one exception. I have a very bright lady from Sudan, who speaks Dinka and Arabic, and a little English. She's delightful, very intelligent, and eager to learn English. Her accent is so thick you could pave a road with it, but she has a great sense of humor, and even though sometimes I have to ask her to repeat something several times, we still have a lot of fun.
Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

possum under a rock, the link for just the image on that page link you posted in Msg 100112 is http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81Kh6dW0xUL._SL1500_.jpg or you can use a smaller version found at http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/515UKU5bcQL._SY300_.jpg
Now I'm not sure about the next part of your request. Do you want to send that link to Floyd in an email or do you want to post it here?
I don't know how often he visits the Front Porch since he does not have to post with a visit. But I do know that when I send him an email, he usually responds within two days. So I believe that the he would see an email much faster than an image posted on the Front Porch. Use the same link for requesting a sweep below to copy and paste either link above into your email.
If you still want to post that image here, let me know and I will show you how.

Belated happy birthday wishes to Floyd and Salty Dog. I know Hazel has a birthday around this time also if I remember correctly. So Happy Birthday to Hazel also.
That's a nice gift you got Floyd Possum.
Hope you are feeling better Boo. Seems like everyone I know has been sick with colds.
Hey GF, I'd be honored to help wire in your electronal device. We will use #1 cable just to make sure them wires are big enough. Terminating them may be a challenge, but I'm sure you can figure out something. LOL
Your Christmas scene sounds wonderful Ro. I'm not on Facebook but just as Clark Griswalds mom said, I can picture it in my mind. :)
Better get. They are doing a nice Christmas party/lunch for us today at work. Good eating for sure.
Prayers for all.

Good morning, porch! Cloudy, gray, and very still here this morning. Sure looks like rain. Lots of bird traffic out there, like they're trying to get "fed up" before they have to take shelter. There's plenty of shelter around here. I've left the leaves alone that have settled on top of shrubs, so when the birds go into the shrubbery they have a "roof" over their heads! It's so neat to sit here about dusk, and watch them - mostly sparrows - as they fly in, in little squadrons, and wriggle into those bushes beneath my window. Once they find a perch, they get very still, and you would never know the bush was full of birds. What was it Barney said? The ways of the wild are many and wonderful? Something like that. Help me out, Luther.
Well, better get busy. I've got a lot to do today. Eddie is coming to clean up the excess leaves, I have to take him over to a friend's house (a potential customer for him), I have a home health visit to make, my car is full of newspapers and cans to take to the Humane Society, I have a package to return to the Bradford Exchange and a box of food to drop off at the local food pantry, got to buy a new outdoor light timer to replace one that quit working yesterday, and my house looks like somebody stirred it with a great big stick. All this decorating is fine, but it doesn't look nice until the house is cleaned up. Still got boxes and bags sitting around. Oh, and the truck from the ARC of Texas is coming by, and I have to be here, because some of the stuff I'm donating is too heavy for me to move outside, and I wouldn't want to leave it outside anyway, if it's going to rain. Busy day! How on earth did I ever have time to work???
Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

Good Morning Porchters.
Billy Ray, I feel your pain. I detest shopping. But with an ailing Mrs. I have to do it now. Yesterday after work I was headed to a store to buy her a present when I witnessed a nasty car accident. Several injuries, and some blood. So I aided those I could, and gave my statement to the Police. But when I got out of there, any desire I had to go shopping was gone. So I came home instead. I'll try it again next week.
MDC, Your boys pulled off a big win last night. But lost another Q.B. in the process. Bummer. That's not good with Seattle coming to town next week. I hope his injury isn't too bad.
GF, with the size wires I was gonna use on your intercom, you won't have to yell, you can whisper. Heck, you may even just think about it and the wife might be able to pick up on it without you saying a word. Kinda like extra sensitive perception. So you better be careful what your thinking buddy. I hung my Christmas bat on the tree last night in your honor. You know me and bats, but this ones a keeper. ;)
Woke up this morning with the beginnings of gout in my foot and knee. Miserable stuff. I've never had it in two places at the same time before. At least it's in the same leg. So I took my medicine and just waiting for it to kick in.
Well guess I best get moving. I hope I can work today, albeit with a limp. I look like Goober taking off on Chester right now.
Prayers for all
Asa

Aren't ya kind Asa, Maybe "Larry" the Christmas bat will ward off any of his friends from coming around, sorta like a bat defense. haha Just don't drop him or you'll have to yell "buttafingah!" Hopefully after you take your "pills" you will feel better. Just be sure to give Miss Ellie your "dime" she ain't no Rockefeller ya know.
And, by the way, for any of you Texas girls the Browns are going to start "Johnnie Football" this Sunday, so I guess we will see if he is up to all his hype.. Browns fans hope so.

Awww, Asa, that was so kind of you to help out with the accident victims. Not everyone would get involved, but of course - you would. Thank you.
I'm sorry about the gout flare-up. That can be so terribly painful. Take your meds, drink a LOT of water, avoid things sweetened with fructose, avoid seafood and organ meats (like liver), put ice on the painful joint when you can, and rest the joint as much as possible.
For all you guys (and gals) who don't particularly enjoy shopping, especially now when it's a free-for-all on the parking lots and in the stores - consider shopping online. Just about anything you could possibly want can be found online, most of it on Amazon. If you subscribe to Amazon Prime, as I do, for $75 a year you get free shipping on almost everything they sell, and you usually receive it in two days. I usually make up that $75 in the first three months of the year. I know - the prices for things eligible for Prime are a couple of dollars higher than you might pay in a store. No surprise there. Amazon didn't get where they are by being stupid. Still, when I factor in the cost of gasoline to get me to the malls, the "sneeze factor" in shopping in crowds (doctor bills?), the risk of an accident or a ding in the parking lot (insur@nce deductible?) and just the stress and effort required, I consider Amazon to be a clear bargain. I do like to go to the mall once during the season, but with no agenda, no "must buy" pressure. I like to go and find a bench and just people-watch, or have lunch in the food court (some of their food is pretty good!), and I always enjoy the decorations. It's fun if it's just an outing, no fun if it's a mission.
Y'all know I have a lot of low-voltage lighting in my back yard. Well, those stinkin' little bulbs are expensive! Guess what. I can get them cheaper at Amazon then I can at Lowe's, they're delivered to my door in two days, and I never had to leave home! Like I said earlier, some things cost a little bit more at Amazon, but some things cost less!
Well, off I go. I have just a few little Christmas things to put on display in the house, and a bit of tidying up to do, then I can sit back and relax, ready for Christmas. Much of my shopping is already done, and I plan to do the rest of it here at this keyboard. I do have to make one run to Target for something, and that will be all. Next week, I'll get some baking done, and just enjoy the week. I love this time of the year! Blessings, friends. --Romeena
