Possum...the best apple cider vinegar I feel you can buy is the Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. It has the "mother" in it which means it's unfiltered. Health food stores has it or Publix has it.

Ya'll have a good night.

March 04, 2011 - Msg 82846: From a dreary, cool day here in Independence, Missouri, I bid you Good Morning and Hello! Have been gone for awhile and I thought I might mosey on up here to the porch and set a spell just to take in the warm country atmosphere and relaxing view off the front porch.
I took another turn at running the Mayberry Hotel, had to actually go to New York to get more music for the choir and then just took some time off. Blessings to Boo, Romeena, MDC, Possum, and the rest of you!

Good to see you all and hope life hasnt been too hard on you!

I hit a low spot in my life (of which I am still trying to dig out of) and I just went kinda numb. I lost the passion for several things I liked doing (like being on here) and when you lose passion, you lose a want to do anything. I wouldnt call it really a depression. I would say I just felt that my passions were not important anymore and kinda went into a "vanilla" state. I enjoyed hearing about Romeena's landscaping, Boo's helping heart, REV's concerts and so on, but I know you cant see me and I cant see you and I felt like I was talking to ghosts. The atmosphere around me makes me feel very "blah" and I just couldnt find a reason to stay here. I still worry about my mother and g'mother in Arkansas while I am here in Missouri. I have recently found that I have budding interests in classic movies, pocket knife collecting and writing. But, again, when you feel vanilla and plain and that's what your life is and will be. You kinda figure "What's the point?" Ok...that being said, and I am sorry I just kinda spilled, I will try to be back like I was. I look forward to seeing you all again and hope to restore the friendship and bond I thought was forming. And, as my treat, ya'll have dinner tonight at Cracker Barrel! I'm buying!

I'll have to look for that brand the next time I'm near a Publix, Rev. Good sweeping, BTW!

Boo, apple cider vinegar is supposed to be good for sinus infections, sore throats, things of that nature. From what I've read online, put 2 tablespoons in 8 oz. of water, add about a teaspoon of honey and drink. I just had some-not too bad. But, I am going to the doctor in the morning because my throat started hurting,so I just might have strep. Having mitral valve prolapse, I don't want to risk strep germs attacking my heart.

Some good news- Laci is a lot better!

Hope Mavis, Tom, Ro, Sean, Boo and everyone who's ailing get better soon!

March 04, 2011 - Msg 82857: Well, MDC...I have jumped off of the Chiefs bandwagon. After the loss to the Ravens in the playoffs, I had had enough! I have been a loyal, supportive fan since I learned what football was, but I have just had enough. I will not wear their apparel or cheer for them until they actually win a playoff game! I sat in almost empty Arrowhead back in the 70's, freezing my backside off or braving the intense heat in preseason. I have always been a "next year" fan. But the youth cant win a playoff game, veterans cant win a playoff game, it's been one heartbreak after another. I will continue to watch them, but I'll watch them just like the other 31 teams. I have paid my dues as a fan of the Chiefs, but this has gotten ridiculous. They own two NFL playoff records now. One is the only NFL team to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs twice and blow them both! And, after losing to the Ravens, we now hold the most consecutive playoff losses in the NFL!
Yeah, if the NFL/NFLPA doesnt get something done, it's going to be a long, long fall and winter!

March 04, 2011 - Msg 82860: Good afternoon, porch, and a big old howdy to John Masters! So glad to see you back - we've been missing you. I'm sorry to hear about your "vanilla" mood. I've never heard it expressed quite like that, but it's very clear how you're feeling. However - let me just throw this out for your consideration. Vanilla can be a GOOD thing! It's true that it can be a bland, un-spectacular flavor, and we often use it to emphasize the plainness of something. A stripped-down car model with few or no extras is often described as "plain vanilla." Yet, I consider vanilla to be one of the most important items in my pantry. I buy a cheap brand to put in something that won't be cooked, such as ice cream, and splurge on relatively expensive, "pure" vanilla for baking, puddings and such. Try making a pudding with no other flavoring, and don't add vanilla, and you've got a tasteless blob in a bowl. Vanilla also serves to bolster and enhance the more showy flavors. I love to make pineapple ice cream, but it's not very good unless I add a generous splash of vanilla to the mixture. Most recipes for chocolate desserts also require vanilla. I guess you could say the vanilla makes you appreciate the other flavors more. Maybe that's true of our lives as well. Maybe we need the "vanilla days" to make us appreciate the other times, the more flavorful days, just a little more. So, maybe you could use your vanilla days as a base for something more interesting. Look around among your friends and acquaintances. If you find some nuts, toss them in. Everything is better if you add a few nuts!

What is it about yellow flowers? They always seem to be more hardy than the other colors. My pansies suffered a bit in the ice and snow, but they're coming back now. However, where I did have a wide range of colors, what I now see mostly is yellow. Snapdragons do the same thing. The yellow ones often re-seed and come back the next year, but the other colors - not so much. Fortunately, I like yellow, and they really do "pop" against the grass, which is now bright green. The fescue that we over-seed with every year really browned out in the freezes, but has greened up again and is looking great. The St. Augustine is just starting to green up, will need another couple of weeks, but the fescue has done its job and is providing a beautiful, emerald background for everything else. The roses that we whacked down to about a foot high are now fat, round balls of new red leaves. In no time, they'll be thick, pretty bushes and will be bursting with buds. And there's that demented robin - big, beautiful, silly bird that he is - just dashing madly around in the yard, hunting worms. He's finding them, too. You can't dig a hole to plant a petunia out there without finding several earthworms. They're very welcome, because they indicate that the soil is active, lots of good microbial life in it. Also, their castings enrich the soil as well. I've been looking for a tiny sign that says "Earthworms Welcome" to stick in a flowerbed. May have to make it myself!

Well, it's bunco night, guess I'd better get cleaned up and ready to go pick up Eloise. We have such fun at these things. The game is secondary, it's the gathering of friends that's the real pleasure. Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

March 04, 2011 - Msg 82861: I hear you, Romeena. Yellow is the predominate color that comes back. I grow "4 o'clocks" and although they're annuals they drop their seeds and come back the next year. And year after year I get more yellows and fewer pinks. I wonder what causes that? Someone did tell me that yellow is the predominate color, and will always come back more so than the other colors. I try to gather the seeds from the pink ones and put them in a baggie and plant them again in May.
JM, sorry about your Vanilla state of mind. I can relate. Although you specifically said it wasn't depression, it sounds like it to me... I deal with it myself. Loss of enjoyment of things you normally do enjoy is a classic symptom, at least for me. Good luck, and remember, it does get better.
We have a couple retro-stations available here too, JM. I've been watching "Mister Ed" and "The Patty Duke Show", and "Rockford is on also, but only during the day when I'm at work, so I have to catch that one when I'm on vacation or home sick... (cough, cough). Gotta love Rockford.

Well, lotsa luck to you and yours,
- Hazel

March 05, 2011 - Msg 82865: Good Morning, All

Ah, the uplifting thoughts of the porch. One of the main reasons I was sorry I stayed away and one of the main reasons I returned! Good to hear from you all again and it lifts my spirits to know you welcome me back with such open arms. I was afraid you might think of me as an interloper and would put on the big freeze! LOL! But...I'll leave it at that and wont make a big moulage out of it!
Rev. - I am glad to hear I have been missed. I have felt like a very small grain of sand on the ocean's bottom. I have been drowning in my life and have felt pretty insignificant. Being missed lets me know that I was wrong to leave the porch in the first place.
Boo - Glad you like the lamp joke. I just hope no one has been abusing their authority around the house while you've been sick. You dont need Howard Sprague coming in your room and disturbing you with the guidelines! LOL!
Ro - Leave it to you to put things in a unique way! Your comments are much appreciated and I have never thought of vanilla quite the way you have. I guess I need to have a new perspective about vanilla! Thanks!
Hazel - I dont know...maybe it is depression and I am in denial. I still find things to laugh about and can tap my foot to music or enjoy a good classic movie. But when I drop, I fall hard. I am 42 and am looking back at life and all the mistakes. I guess it might be the ol' mid-life crisis. But, then again, my heart is uncomfortable from a mental standpoint and I feel like I need to forget about the first half of my life and have the mentality of starting over. Kinda like the way a football team does terrible in the first half of the game, they go to halftime, and then come out as a completely different team in the second half. I am a huge NFL fan, so maybe I need to kinda take it that direction. Just regroup and get ready for the second half! LOL!
Possum - sorry to hear about your strep. I havenever had it and hope I never do. My sympathy to you because I hate normal sore throats! My best to you on a very fast and speedy recovery!

Ok, folks...time to tackle some chores. Have a great day, everyone!

March 05, 2011 - Msg 82869: Give YOU the BIG FREEZE, JM...never! Glad you're back and please keep coming back..you can never know yet what this porch will mean to you if you stay. It's family to those of us who have been here for years and we help each other through the tough times, and we rejoice with each other in the good ones. Because of that, it has been really hard to lose some of our friends who use to come here regularly. Wish everyone would just come on home. Oh, and you're right...I don't want Howard Sprague coming into my room at ANY time...sick or otherwise. *wink*

You know, John, i was thinking about your "second half" analogy and its a good one...just think, you may well have another 42 years ahead of you to live an amazing life. One thing I have learned in my 48 years, though, is life is worth nothing if not lived to bring goodness to the lives of others. Jesus knew what he was talking about...it's about being "others" focused instead of "self" focused, and the only good reason to look back in regret is if it is to repent, learn from our mistakes, and then use them to help someone else but the good Lord doesn't want us to get stuck there. God has prepared many exciting works of service for you in the next 42 years and joy will come to you as you walk in them. For some reason I feel really excited about what might be ahead for you, John Masters. :-)

So glad you came home!

March 05, 2011 - Msg 82871: Boo, I hope no one takes offense like I am singling you out, but that is one of the nicest and warmest messages I have ever gotten. I dont know if you, or any of the other porchsters, remember me trying to put together the "Quantrill Special Collections Research" in Gentry, Arkansas, but it is slowly keeping momentum and I have some good, good folk down there helping me out with research, cemetery hunting and looking up info on Missouri soldiers buried down there. We are getting donations of money, books and materials. They are small and we are a very long way from where we want to be, but it is progressing. Our goal of becoming the very first special collections ever based solely on Quantrill, his guerrillas and the border wars is still in our sights. I have felt pretty good today because I got a lot of chores accomplished. I made myself get started and, once I did, I had a hard time stopping. But I feel good that I got some things done. Maybe Andy's speech to Opie about shooting for the good feeling must have rubbed off on my psyche! LOL! I hope, hope I have 42 more years!

Shout out to KYGirl! Good seeing you again too!

March 06, 2011 - Msg 82879: Good morning, JM and Boo. I've been sitting here reading email, and found one from my son, with a link to an old Warner Brothers cartoon on Youtube. I didn't know you could find such as that on Youtube, but the sidebar had a multitude of them! I'm a cartoon addict - love them! Not the dumb stuff they're passing off as cartoons today, but the ones made back when cartoons were funny! Looney Tunes, and Warner Brothers were wonderful. The animation was hand drawn, not computer-generated, and they were so funny. The coyote and the roadrunner, the old Tom and Jerry eps, Speedy Gonzales (you don't see them anymore, not PC, I guess) - oh, there were lots of them! I still watch them when they occasionally run an oldie on Boomerang or one of the other channels. My kids, especially my sons, love them too. Those guys can watch a cartoon together and fire the lines back and forth to each other as it goes. A favorite is Bugs Bunny saying "You realize, of course, that this means war." Another favorite is Bugs popping up in some inconvenient place and saying "I should have turned right at Albuquerque." So funny!

Well, my back and ribs are hurting, I guess I need to get out of this chair and either lie down or go get in my big chair. Later, taters! --Romeena

March 06, 2011 - Msg 82880: I am a HUGE Warner brothers guy myself! I always took Bugs and Daffy over Mickey and Donald! Yep, I can say some of those WB cartoons almost line for line myself! The best line ever in the WB cartoons is from "Rabbit Seasoning!" It's one of those Bugs and Daffy vs. Elmer cartoons where Bugs and Daffy are trying to manipulate Elmer into shooting the other. There is one scene where Bugs and Daffy run from Elmer and escape down a rabbit hole. Bugs asks Daffy to look up and see if he's gone yet. Daffy sticks his head up and gets shot in the face and falls back down into the hole under the camera shot. Bugs asks if he's still there and Daffy's face appears like he's both shot and drunk. Daffy replies "Still lurking about" in a daze. I believe Bugs tells him to do it again and Daffy responds, like in a drunken stupor, "None for me thanks! I'm drivin'!" and collapses out of camera view! I fall apart every time I hear that "None for me..." line!! The best WB cartoon ever is "Duck Amuck!" That's where Daffy is alone and the artist keeps changing the scenes on him over and over. We find at the end that Bugs is the artist! Some of Daffy's best lines are in that one! I have a WB Bugs Bunny DVD set. I can watch them like I watch Andy! I grew up on Bugs, but I miss the old kiddie shows like The Banana Splits! That was my favorite! Also Underdog and Speed Racer! Ah, those were good times, weren't they, Romeena?!

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. I just finished watching "Lilies of the Field" with Sidney Poiter. Quite a funny movie with a real good story. Way better than I thought it would be!

MDC, as we say in the south, "You're a mess!". Which TAGS ep is that quote from...is it about Earnest T?

I watched "Man in a Hurry" last night and I just love that episode. It's probably no my very favorite but it comes close. I noticed something yesterday that I never really caught before and it touched my heart; it is near the end of the ep when Malcom Tucker is getting in his car to leave and he looks out his window to say goodbye and the camera shows each of the character individually and they are smiling such sweet smiles...Aunt Bee, Barney, Andy, Gomer and little Opie. I felt like old Mr. Tucker must have felt. I wanted to stay right there in Mayberry with Andy and the family. Funny how you can get attached to the characters, even if they are fictional characters. I just love TAGS and everything about it....EXCEPT Helen and her hissy fits...and Mayor Stoner sure gets me mad sometimes. The way he and that lady's society woman treated Rafe Hollister when he was chosen to sing at the musi-cal. Everytime I watch that, I am wondering why on earth Andy didn't set 'em straight, especially after the deplorable way they acted in front of Rafe's wife.

Better get Erin going for school. Looks like another beautiful day here in south texas.

Yep, I'll bring the paper SPOT. How about I bring Opie's paper..."Mayberry After Midnight'? I hear there is some good gossip in that one. Somebody said the preacher's sermons are dry as dust.

Boo

March 07, 2011 - Msg 82888: By the way, has anyone watched the episode recently when Gloria comes for a visit after having a fight with her boyfriend? The way Helen acts in that episode is so horrible. Sean was watching it recently and he was so mad he was beside himself. I heard him muttering something like, "Get rid of her Andy. She's a witch!". haha...she was really terrible in that episode.

Hey, lets have another Helen discussion on the porch. We haven't talked about her in a long time. hehe

Boo

March 07, 2011 - Msg 82889: Good morning everyone. Just stopped by for a quick Mayberry story...

Here's the background: "The Haunted House" is Veda's favorite ep and she's watched it dozens of times. Now...Last week I was taking her to (her Christian) preschool and, as we're walking through the crowded hall, she begins singing loudly, "Slow it down and let me in or I'll go out and drink some gin." I didn't even try to explain.

BOO: Don't forget, it was the show's male writers who wrote Helen that way. One thing that always bothered me about TAGS was in the early eps they have stories like Ellie getting elected to council, and in the later stories they go "backward," especially evident in the ep where Helen basically tells her niece that they have to let the man win so he feels important.

Have a great day!
Me-They

March 07, 2011 - Msg 82890: Haha! Kids. I like Veda. :-) Erin loves that ep, too, but her very favorite is "Aunt Bee the Warden"...she is always quoting something from that one. As far as the haunted house ep, we say alot of "Gomer?...Gomer"...Gooome?.." around her.

I know what you mean, Me-They...the writers had some "issues".

March 07, 2011 - Msg 82894: Good morning, porch. A "Helen" discussion? Well, here's my two cents' worth. Andy should have "nipped it in the bud" when she first pitched one of those little hissy fits. It's the only way to handle jealousy. When my parents first married, my dad was insanely jealous. He trusted my mother, he just didn't trust other men. In those days, he would have made a good Muslim. He didn't want her leaving the house without him, and when they went out, she couldn't wear shorts or anything that didn't practically cover her from head to toe. She was beautiful, he knew it, and was jealous. He barely tolerated her wearing a swimsuit, and only if he was present, and then he sat on the bank glaring at all the other men. Well, one day two of his sisters and his mom were going swimming and invited her along. She refused at first, they knew why, and practically forced her to go. When my dad got home that evening and saw her little sunburn, he was furious and really had a fit. As my mom related it, he "roared like a bull moose all night and into the next morning." After he went to work, she thought about it and realized that she was seeing the model of what her life would be like forever, and didn't like it. She packed up and went back to her parents' home. My dad was horrified, and furious, when he found her gone. He went to get her, she wouldn't go, and they had a long talk. She told him she loved him, but would not live like a prisoner. Either drop the jealousy and over-protectiveness, or she would never come back. He stormed off. It took him two weeks to realize that she meant business and he couldn't live without her, so he did some soul-searching, then went to her and promised never to behave like that again. She went home with him, and I can honestly say, I never saw one tiny inkling of jealousy from him, ever. They had a very happy marriage, broken only by her death after 63 years. Daddy would tell the story to the young couples in the family and among their circle of friends, and warn the men that the quickest way to lose the one you love is to hold them so tightly that they can't breathe. Jealousy in a man is restrictive, threatening and love-killing. In a woman, it's ugly and unbecoming.

Now for Helen. Jealousy wasn't the only trigger for her fits. She used those little snits to get her way in lots of things. In the first few years of our marriage, I confess I was a bit like that. Dale tried hard to make me happy, and on the few occasions when he would refuse to do something I wanted to do, it would get my Irish up and I'd become determined it was going to happen. I'd pull some of Helen's sniffy little moods, and usually it would work, which only encouraged me. Finally, one day Dale had enough, and informed me that if I was going to act like a spoiled child I could go home and let my parents finish raising me! Told me he wanted an adult wife, not a spoiled kid, and I could take it or leave it. I thought about it, realized that I almost always got what I wanted, because he loved me, not because I demanded it. Feeling like two cents waiting for change, I apologized and vowed to try to behave better. In the long run, I was happier, had even more respect for him, and we would still be happily married today if the Lord had not called him home when he was 58. So - those ugly little fits aren't becoming, no matter their origin, and are especially unbecoming in a woman. I soon learned much nicer ways to behave, and they worked even better! (heehee)

Well, gotta run. Eloise will be here soon, to drive me out to Southlake for another steroid session. I sure hope it works, because I've been terribly uncomfortable the past few days. Somebody has got to come up with an answer soon. Blessings, dear porch! --Romeena

March 07, 2011 - Msg 82895: Enjoyed your post, Romeena. I especially liked the part when Dale said, "..If you are going to act like a spoiled child, go home and let your parents finished raising you.." haha...I like Dale. I am convinced that many of the divorces we see today would not happen if men knew how to be men and used a little tough love when it was needed. I can tell you for certain that our marriage would be a disaster if Bruce wasn't a strong person who doesn't back down easily. I would have run right over him years ago and that is not healthy for a relationship. The part I have always had trouble accepting, though, is that he was usually right! :(

Well, better get back to the chores. Hope that steroid injection works, Ro. Prayers that you get some relief.

March 07, 2011 - Msg 82896: Forgot to tell you all something funny that happened yesterday. I was feeling crummy from this cold but took some advil and decided to do something. I pulled out mom's old canner and cleaned it and decided to make some apple jelly. It was a beautiful afternoon and I had all the windows in the house open. Bruce was a meeting, Sean was at a friend's house and Erin was out playing with her cousin so I was alone in the house. I put on some of favorite TAGS dvd's and started canning jelly! It was really fun...of course would have been more fun with friends. I made apple-cinnamon jelly and it turned out pretty good. Anyway, when Bruce came home he said to me, "Hey Aunt Bee, what's that on the counter? Uh-oh, you been making jelly?". Well, I never! At least I didn't make "kerosene cucumbers"!~

MDC - Thanks for the scount knife story. Mine arent scouts knives, but one is from my g'pa who gave it to me when I was about 12. I cherish it thoroughly!

SPOT - Sorry I missed breakfast! MMMMM, REALLY sorry I missed breakfast! Looked like quite a menu!

Boo - Yep...Mayor Stoner was something I cant quite say here. My least favorite line from Stoner is when he would say "Let's...just...do that!" Ooooooo, talk about gritting your teeth! helen drove me nuts too. She was quite a hypocrite and got too jumpy way too fast sometimes! The Bruce story is classic! LOL! Hope you're feeling better each day!

Ro - Your first story hit a little close to home for me. Sometimes...it can be in reverse. I will leave it at that. My biggest hopes and thoughts that you feel better!

Pappa Bear - Nice to meet you. I have never had the pleasure!

REV - Good luck with your recording. Hope all goes well and no glitches!

Me-They - Hey you! Havent shouted to you yet! Many greetings!

Ok folks, gotta run! Hope to be back a bit later.

March 08, 2011 - Msg 82903: Good morning, porch! It's 5:40 a.m. and I haven't "officially" been to bed. Eloise brought me home from Southlake around 4 p.m. I still had some Versed on board, I guess, because I really don't remember a lot. I think I slept through most of the ride home. Eloise questioned whether I should be here alone, but I convinced her I was just fine. I barely remember mixing up some tuna salad, but I know I did because it's in the fridge! I do remember eating a sandwich, then curled up in my chair and remember nothing more until about 10:30. Checked my blood sugar, which was soaring up over 400! Steroids will do that. Took a big load of insulin, and have been awake all night, watching TV, drinking tea and checking sugars about every hour, taking more insulin. Finally got it down to 299 about an hour ago and took more insulin. When I say more, I mean 15 units at a time! I'm about to check again, will take whatever is indicated, and then sleep a couple of hours. Have to be up around 8, because I have a TV being delivered between 8 and 12. I know, it will come at 12:30, but just in case....

My living room TV has taken to shutting itself off without warning (I think I told you all this) at intervals. Repairman said the main lamp is going out (it's a DLP) and should be replaced. $325! Had the same problem just over a year ago, replaced the lamp then. I'm not about to do this every year, so out it goes. Today would have been our 53rd anniversary if Dale had lived, and I'm going to treat myself to a new TV. I bought a Samsung 55" LED, with 3D capability. I'm also getting a BluRay/3D player. With a 2-year, no interest payout, it's practically painless.

Boo, good for you, making apple jelly! You're braver than I am. I have boiled apples down and made apple butter, but never have tried jelly. Bruce's comment is funny!

Well, guess I'd better go check my sugar once more, take another boatload of insulin and get to bed. I'm not worried about taking all that insulin and going to sleep, because I won't sleep that long. Anyway, I know from past experience that this battle will last all day and probably into the next day before it settles down. As for whether the steroids are working or not, it's too soon to tell. Still having some pain and tingling, scratching feelings, but they are mild. My hope is it will just all go away. If not, I'm thinking my next hope is a good chiropractor, though what he/she could do about torn and damaged nerves, I'm not sure. Blessings, friends! --Romeena

March 08, 2011 - Msg 82905: Wow, that scares me Ro, that you fell asleep in that chair for that long with your bs rising. Maybe next time you have to have something that requires anesthesia, you should have Eloise stay with you for the night, just to be on the safe side. The thought of you being alone is worrisome. I know you take good care of yourself and are doing that but the time you were alone while the versed was still in your system may not be a time to be at home alone. Just my 2 cents worth. I just hope the steroids work after all this.

I'm feeling better, JM, thanks. Still alittle under the weather but getting better each day. In response to what you had to say about Stoner and Helen...I think the two of them were made for each other...they should have run off together and stayed gone. hehe Andy should have married Peggy or Ellie. The more I watch TAGS, the more I appreciate Ellie Walker. She seemed kind of young for Andy but she had a good personality on the show and quite a good sense of humor (the polar opposite of Helen). I think the writers really messed up on the Andy/Helen thing because they way Andy dealt with Helen was so out of character for Andy Taylor. I wish they would have written in some "tough love" in those eps and had Andy teach Helen how to behave...or else.

I know those documentary-type cartoons you are talking about MDC...funny!

Better go get Erin to school.

March 08, 2011 - Msg 82906: Good morning to the masses! Tis' quite dreary and raining here on my part of the porch. Little nippy too! But, sometimes a little rain is a relaxing thing!

Ro - Thoughts with you on your anniversary! I'm glad to see you are treating yourself! Hmmm....*rubs chin*...55 inch screen huh?? ALRIGHT..EVERYONE over to Ro's for Bugs Bunny on the big screen! LOL!

Boo - Yeah, I get irritated watching Andy sometimes because of the mayors and well....even myself. I despise the way the mayors always have Andy tell someone bad news or that they cant do something! I think I would have either told them off or had to quit! I do not think that is part of a sheriff's job. Eviction notices, yes. Being the "go-fer" for the mayor, NO! I even did that myself! Remember when I had Andy break the news to Barney that Gomer would be singing the solo in the concert? *Sigh* I shouldnt have put Andy in that position.

Rev - Is there a REV World Tour to follow?! LOL! We could be your road crew!

Off to do some research! Have a great day and may your day be trouble free!

Hey Folks

Well, winter is hanging on here, kinda like that cop during the open scene in "Vertigo." And, we all know what happened to him so I guess spring is still a coming.

John Masters-Hey there and good to see ya.

One of my all-time favorite WB comic, is when Foghorn Leghorn( my favorite) realizes that Duffy has swindled him and Bugs. I think that goes like this,
Foghorn Leghorn:Ace novelty company?
Bugs Bunny:Ace novelty company.
Foghorn Leghorn: Pipe full of fun kit number 7?
Bugs Bunny:Pipe full of fun kit number.
Foghorn Leghorn:We, I say, we have been flim
flammed!
Bugs Bunny: Hoodwinked!

Hope to stop back later. Peace friends!

Leghorn: Fortunately, I keep my feathers numbered for just such an emergency.

March 08, 2011 - Msg 82910: Hey there, auh2o! Good to see you, friend. Little by little the regulars are coming back. Makes the porch seem nice and full.

Boo, thanks for your concern, but really, I'm fine. I know where your thoughts were going - mine would as well - but the trail I left indicates I was doing everything okay, I just can't remember it. My meter has memory, and evidently I was awake more during that period of time than I could remember later.

Today has been busy, which is probably a good thing. TV was delivered at 7:30 a.m., and the installer came to upgrade my security system at 9 a.m., Eloise came by and brought lunch and stayed for a while, so I've been well-supervised. I'm going to bed early tonight, and Joe is coming in the morning to do some more spring wake-up work in the yard - mulching, more pruning, such as that.

Yep, when that big old TV is installed we can have a TAGS party, or a TKAM party or whatever you folks want. I didn't let the store install it - they wanted $150 to do it, and hook it up to all the components, the surround sound system and such. My son can do it, and he'll be back in town on Friday. I'll fry him some pork chops Saturday night, and he'll hook everything up for me just fine. Meanwhile, I'll just keep turning the old set back on whenever it turns itself off. If the lamp fails in the meantime, then I'll just read or something.

For now, I'm pooped! Eddie is here mowing, I'm going to go pay him, then get into my jammies and watch some TAGS. Blessings, friends! --Romeena
