January 10, 2008 - Msg 59525: Prayers for Romeena today.

Laci "told" me to tell Auntie Ro that she did just fine when she had her heart surgery at 11 months and says not to be so worried, because the same angels that watched over her will be with you today.

Hoping Mr. Hazel's condition has improved.

Guess I'll get the coffee brewing. Then let's head over to I-Hop and put it on Big Maude's tab this time!

January 10, 2008 - Msg 59527: Good morning everyone. A special prayer for our darlin' ROMEENA this morning. It's in the hands of a master surgeon, and I don't mean ROMEENA's doctor. Prayers also for Mr. Hazel and others.

We hear a lot about permissive parents that I thought I'd share this humorous AP article with you all:

DES MOINES, Iowa - Jane Hambleton has dubbed herself the "meanest mom on the planet." After finding alcohol in her son's car, she decided to sell the car and share her 19-year-old's misdeed with everyone — by placing an ad in the local newspaper. The ad reads: "OLDS 1999 Intrigue. Totally uncool parents who obviously don't love teenage son, selling his car. Only driven for three weeks before snoopy mom who needs to get a life found booze under front seat. $3,700/offer. Call meanest mom on the planet." Hambleton has heard from people besides interested buyers since recently placing the ad in The Des Moines Register. The 48-year-old from Fort Dodge says she has fielded more than 70 telephone calls from emergency room technicians, nurses, school counselors and even a Georgia man who wanted to congratulate her. "The ad cost a fortune, but you know what? I'm telling people what happened here," Hambleton says. "I'm not just gonna put the car for resale when there's nothing wrong with it, except the driver made a dumb decision. It's overwhelming the number of calls I've gotten from people saying 'Thank you, it's nice to see a responsible parent.' So far there are no calls from anyone saying, 'You're really strict. You're real overboard, lady.'" The only critic is her son, who Hambleton says is "very, very unhappy" with the ad and claims the alcohol was left by a passenger. Hambleton said she believes her son but has decided mercy isn't the best policy in this case. She says she set two rules when she bought the car at Thanksgiving: No booze, and always keep it locked. The car has been sold, but Hambleton says she will continue the ad for another week — just for the feedback.

I'll stop back later.

January 10, 2008 - Msg 59530: "Maycomb was a tired, old town,
even in 1932 when I first knew it.
Somehow it was hotter then.
Men's stiff collars wilted by 9:00 in the morning.
Ladies bathed before noon, after their 3:00 naps...
and by nightfall were like soft tea cakes...
with frostings of sweat and sweet talcum.
The day was 24 hours long, but it seemed longer.
There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go...
and nothing to buy; no money to buy it with.
Although Maycomb County had recently been told...

Morning Porch

Romeena-I know all will go well today, take care and God Bless!

Prayers for Hazel, possum, and homemaker, and for all the porchsters.

M-T I heard just a tidbit of the "meanest Mom" story on the news this morning, thanks for providing the ... Rest of the Story, Gooood day. (that was my Paul Harvey imitation)

Boo-I didn't mean to ignore your question about Huckabee. I could vote for him in a heartbeat against any, any, of the Democrats. But, his stance on illegals (even though it has matured) and his tone towards business raises some red-flags for me. I just hate is line that goes something like, America wants a President that's more like the guy next to you and not like the guy that laid you off. I'd rather have him talk about why business' have to have layoffs. If he's the nominee I'd vote for him. I'd probably donate to his campaign and do some canvassing locally.

January 10, 2008 - Msg 59535: MDC, that kinda reminded me of something I read in a book my parents used to have. If I remember it correctly, it goes something like this:

Ladies and jellybeans
Reptiles and crocodiles
I stand before you and sit behind you
To tell you something I know nothing about
There will be a meeting tomorrow evening after breakfast
To decide which color to whitewash the church
There is no admission
Just pay at the door
There are plenty of seats
So sit on the floor

Wish I could remember the name of that book. It had a lot of things like that in there. I enjoyed reading that as a kid.

Hope Romeena is doing well.

STERLING: I also enjoyed your poem, but am not sure exactly what it had in common with MDC's rendition of the intro to "To Kill a Mockingbird." You smokin' funny cigarettes again?

AUH2O: De nada. For a funny take on Huckabee, check out Ann Coulter's last two weekly columns (I think it's the last two). I sure hope McCain does poke throw, but if not, it's WE WANT ELLIE! all the way. But that Howard Sprague has some interesting ideas, to...

MDC: I know that you enjoy westerns. My all-time fave western is the "Lonesome Dove" miniseries. It even inspired me to read the book, which is quite long. Anyway, this Sunday on one of the broadcast channels (CBS?) a new chapter in the Lonesome Dove story will begin. I think it's a prequel. I tell you it's a shame that Robert Duvall's character croaked in the original miniseries because it would have been great to see him in the next two chapters (the ones with John Voight, then James Garner, in the charater Tommy Lee Jones played in the original). Anyway, just thought I'd pass that along.

January 10, 2008 - Msg 59547: Thanks for your opinion, Auh2o. I think the next candidate I research will be McCain.

The "meanest mom on the planet" has got it goin' on! We need more just like her.

Me-They, I will never forget watching Lonesome Dove when it came out. It was so real and absorbing (and very disturbing at times). It really sucked me in. I laughed, cried, and was terrified at times. Great writing! When Robert Urich got hung, I thought I'd die and I fell in love with Robert Duvall. I try not to miss any movie he makes, still...he still gives me butterflies in my stomach. What a man.

Been thinking of ROMEENA. I saw a bumper sticker today that she would like. It said, "Work harder; millions on welfare are depending on you".

Cliff notes for the bible?! My stars, some people are so witty.

Me-They, I am going to listen to those programs you suggested when I have a few minutes. If you can believe it, I was at the emergency room with Bruce most of the day. He was having chest pressure and dizziness this morning and actually had to pull the truck over and couldn't drive. His EKG and cardiac enzymes were normal but they wanted to keep him overnight but he refused. He checked himself out AMA after I left to pick up Erin. He really needed to have those enzymes checked again but he is stubborn. He called his doctor himself from the hospital and told him he was going home and he had to promise to come in for a follow-up tomorrow. His blood pressure was high and he hasn't been taking his blood pressure medicine. I am keeping a close eye on him and I guess I will have to take his pill, put it in his hand and make him swallow it. It's ridiculous.

Think I will relax and watch a bit of TV...my pressure is probably up, too. ha

MDC, I know what you mean. He is a stubborn German (thinks his way is best no matter what and pleading does no good). He signed himself out while I was gone. He came home, showered and went to bed. He was complaining of feeling bad but no chest pressure or lightheadedness. I'll keep an eye on him, that's all I can do until tomorrow.

I was watching an episode of TAGS (the Horse Trader--about the cannon) and I noticed a couple of signs at the drugstore, in the soda fountain area. They said "diced cream". Now, what in the world is diced cream?? Anyone know?

Hopefully I can get some rest this week end.

Prayers also for HAZEL and her family. Sure hope her husband is recovering. Hopefully she will check in soon, too.

And last but not least, prayers for the stubborn German. BOO, maybe if you started serving him California health plates and make him drink wheat grass for "his health," he may just bend to your way of thinking! January 11, 2008 - Msg 59559: Hey Asa, yep, I thought about Hazel as I was driving to the ER yesterday wondering if Bruce might be having a heart attack. I hope he will follow up with what the doc suggests (he is at the doc's office right now). He seems to feel fine this morning but I'm sure the doc will want to send him to the cardiologist. He just had a nuclear stress test in June that was good, so that makes me feel a little better.

That's right, TOM, she mentioned that she would be staying overnight at the hospital. I'm sure we will hear from her soon and if things work out the way they did when my dad got his pacemaker, she will be feeling fine as frog hair.

Wish Hazel would check in and give us a report on Mr. Hazel.

Funny, MW! Maybe I will have to resort to that. Already I am making veggie soup for dinner (not exactly his favortie but full of vitamins and low fat). I add V8 juice to it and you can't really tell after it has cooked for awhile. I always let it simmer for hours and I think it is really good. I also hid some broccoli in it. If you let the broccoli cook for a long time, it actually dissappears in the soup.

Trying to catch up the laundry. Toss your shorts if you are out there, Me-They (I speak literally, not figuritively...this is a "G" rated porch...mostly, sometimes PG-13).

January 11, 2008 - Msg 59566: Yep, TGIF for sure this week MDC! I need a little R&R. Bruce got home from the doctor and he is back on his blood pressure medicine TODAY and sees the cardiologist on Monday morning. Now that I question him further, it sounds like it may not be cardiac pain he is experiencing. Could be something else but we'll see. I'll make him do what he is supposed to do, either through gentle persuasion and if that doesn't work, through denial of food, too much starch in his shorts, etc. (just kidding).

I was watching the pickle episode today and I always see something new when I watch it. I just love that ep. Love the part when Barney is trying to sneak the suitcase of Bee's pickels out of the kitchen and Andy finally just shoves him out and closes the door on his arm. January 11, 2008 - Msg 59572: Where is everybody?

January 11, 2008 - Msg 59573: Good evening, all. Thanks so much for all your prayers and expressions of concern. It's just wonderful to have friends like you.

I'm home, complete with new pacemaker. It was put in yesterday morning, and all seemed to go well. Then a routine scout x-ray showed what appeared to be a problem - the atrial lead seemed to be too tight, not enough slack in the line, and therefore a potential for dislodging it if I moved my neck or shoulder just the right way. So, back to surgery this morning, to reopen the incision and access that lead and extend it a bit. When they got in there, the lead was fine, not too tight at all. Apparently, somehow my scoliosis affected the angle of the x-ray and made it look like the lead was short, but it wasn't. I don't know, that's what they said. Anyway, they closed the incision back up, sent me to recovery again where I woke up and joked with old nurse friends, and then back to my room, starving for lunch. The anesthesiologist had heeded my plea and soaked me with Zofran so I've had no post-op nausea, like I usually do. In fact, I feel fine. No pain either. Just a little aching in the pacer unit site, and I'll probably take a bit of Tylenol before going to bed, just so it doesn't wake me.

The base rate is set at 70, so now when my heart slows down to 70 or below, the pacer will kick in and keep my pulse rate up, which should eliminate the fatigue and weakness I've been experiencing. That will be lovely. I probably won't even be aware of it when it happens. Thank you, Lord.

Prayers for Mr. Hazel, for Bruce, for Possum and all who are having challenges right now. I'm probably overlooking someone, being still a bit fuzzy from the Versed I received (wonderful stuff, Versed), so I'll just trust the Lord to do what is best for all of us. He always does.

Toye Starr is fine, my friend Eloise has been appointed her "godmother" and kept her for me while I was absent. If anything, I think she's more spoiled than she already was.

Well, I'm going to go eat a little something, and head for bed. Not much rest to be had while in the hospital, of course. Again, thanks for your prayers. REV, blessings for you and your ministry, friend. Be careful on this long tour. Be blessed, everyone. --Romeena

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59575: Well, ain't that a bite in the pants! RO, I'm so thankful that you're home and well. So sorry that there seemed to be some confusion with your pacemaker. January 12, 2008 - Msg 59576: Hi porch! It's 2:33 a.m. and I'm checking in! Thank you so much for all the thoughts and prayers for me and my husband. He is home, and apparently doing just fine. Oh, the wonders of modern technology. He got out of the hospital Thursday afternoon, and I meant to post earler but just didn't have a chance. Here is what happened. He had gone to his heart doc on December 27 for his followup appointment from when he had his heart attack in October. And the doc put him on a new medicine which he started taking on the 28th. A few days later he started having some chest and shoulder pain, but he just thought it was from sleeping wrong (remember he just broke 2 ribs on December 16). And the pain sort of came and went; and didn't feel like the time he had a heart attack. On Jan. 3 he went to his regular doc for a re-check appointment for the ribs, and he mentioned he'd been having chest pain. The doc looked it up and said that the new medicine that the other doctor had put him on actually causes upper body achiness as a side effect, so that could be it. Also, he said, remember, you're still recovering from 2 broken ribs, so you're still going to be having some pain from inflamation from that. So hubby came home thinking he should'nt be too concerned. But, a couple days later the pain was the worse yet, so he called his heart doc, and they said to half his new drug for a few days and see if that helps. So he did that, and for one day he felt better. But during the night he got worse and that's when I took him to the emergency room and they said he was having a heart attack. I don't know why I tell this long story, other than I guess because I'm loopy from lack of sleep. So in summary my husband had been having a slow heart attack for about 6 or 7 days and didn't go to the hospital for a week because we thought it was related to a side effect from a drug, or inflamation from ribs. It's just that it wasn't like his first heart attack at all, and hubby felt like they'd think he was a big whimp for rushing to the ER for not being able to handle a side effect from a drug. I guess the reason he had the heart attack is that the proceedure they did in October failed, which sometimes happens. They had put a balloon in and this time they put in a stint, so hopefully it will work better.
To top it off, we have got about 4 foot of snow in the last 2 weeks (it snows every day) and the hospital is 15 miles away, so I have been dealing with slick roads.
Well, now I'm sleepy. See you all later.
I'm glad your proceedure went good, Romeena! Enjoy your time with Starr.
10-4, over and out.

Oh,and bless your heart for thinking of me in the midst of your situation. I'll admit,I am still a bit worried (think that's human nature),but am putting my faith in the Lord.I'll be fine.

Hazel, glad Mr.Hazel is home and they have a handle on what's been going on with him. That's one long heart attack! Maybe you can get him in the Guiness book of world records! Seriously,I am relieved things are looking better for him and hope it continues.

Boo,prayers for Bruce as well.

Y'all have a great day! See ya at Cracker Barrel for breakfast-Asa's buying!

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59579: Well, I'm back. Still up, still sleepy, but can't sleep. I decided to watch The Pickle Story, thanks to Boo. She had mentioned it, and I just had a whim to watch that one again. It's one of my favorites too. And I agree, when Andy shuts Barney's arm in the door, that's one of the funniest parts. And Opies face at the dinner table when Aunt Bee announces she's going to enter the pickles in the contest. Opie: These pickles? (the expression on his face is priceless). I also watched an ep of Gunsmoke, about a mysterious killer on the loose. That was a good 'un. I enjoy the Gunsmokes, although Bonanza, not so much. (sorry to any Bonanza fans). It's too corny. Now the Gunsmokes, that's some good acting.
I thought of something I wanted to add to my post I wrote a couple hours ago. In addition to being blessed with a lot of good friends in my life, I am so durn proud of my 2 kids. They're 24 and 26. To see what kind of adults they've become, well, it's heartwarming. They are both so close to their Dad, and to see that bond they have with him makes me so happy. They both know how to step up to the plate in a crisis, and both can be counted on to be responsible and help out. They both hold down steady, full time jobs and are just good people. Sorry to sound braggy, but I know that a lot of families don't have it that way. I have a friend who's son is in and out of jail, and another who's daughter disapears periodically because of drugs. I just feel very blessed.

Barney: "No, I think I'll just wait and smoke it, I mean eat it later."

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59580: You snuck in on me, Possum! I think you're on to something with that Guiness Book thing. I think I'll go thru my issues of "Learn-A-Month" and see if I can find any research on the length of heart attacks! Those issues cost a quarter each, you know.
Cracker Barrell? I'll have scrambled eggs, sausage, cheezy hashbrown casserole, tomatoe juice and fruit. See you there.

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59581: Morning Family:
2008 has started out with many prayer requests and amily concerns...it's so wonderful we can "share the load" and pray for each other. Hopefully things will settle down now and stay on the mend!!
Speaking of which, Asa- how's Mrs. feeling lately? and the new GRANDDAUGHTER?
Ro- Sooo glad to see ya back in your home, RESTING like the Dr. ordered. Keep her resting Starr, we're counting on you.

Boo- prayers for Bruce...some men!!

Possum, glad you crawled out for a peek at the day.
Rev- prayers for the hearts to be softened and prepared for the Lord's prompting.
Have a good day on the porch. ~New Neighbor

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59582: Morning all.
Glad you are home and doing well Romeena. Take it easy and get some rest.

Hazel, so glad your Hubby is home and doing good too. And you should be proud of your young-uns. Good job in raising them.

Boo, how's Bruce feeling today? Better I hope.

Possum, you doing better?

N.N. is Meredith feeling any better? My new Grandaughter is doing great, and Mrs. Asa has good days and bad days. She is battling a sinus infection right now and has been for most of the winter. 2 bouts of anti-biotics has not helped so that's wearing on her a bit. Thanks for asking.

Whoever has been posting all the TAGS quotes, thanks. I always enjoy those

"We've got us a situation here Andy, a real situation!"

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59583: Wow, Hazel, that could have been so much worse. Thank God they put in a stint this time. I think if I am ever in that situation I will ask them to do that and not just a balloon. Anyway, I was sure glad to hear you brag a little on your kids. You never mention them and it is a comfort to know that they are there to support you at times like these. What a blessing, for sure!...Yep, that pickle story is a Doozie, isn't it?

Right, NN, is is great to have the kind of support we find among our porch friends. Thank you for your prayers (everyone). I want to share another request with you and hesitate to because it is very sad, but I have been concerned and praying for a local family with a 9 yr old named Shawn. He was just diagnosed with an inoperable brainstem tumor and they are taking him to Johns-Hopkins for some experimental treatment. If you think of him during your day, please send up a prayer for him and his family. Thanks.

Better finish my coffee and get moving..

Boo

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59584: Hey there Asa, good to see ya this morning. Wanna walk down to Wally's with me for a bottle of pop? Bruce seems to be feeling fine this morning and is out and about looking for a replacement part for the toilet in the kid's bathroom, thank you for asking. I am going to go with him on Monday, though and ask the cardiologist some questions. Mr. Hazel's situation is a perfect expample of how medical folks can miss things....don't want to miss things with Bruce.

Boo

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59585: Great to see you're home Romeena! Wish I could come to Texas & help you out for a bit. Hazel glad to hear Mr. Hazel is home & doing better as well, wish I had known you were up half the night, I was too, we couldn't hung out a while at Sarah's. And I'm right there with you about being proud of your kids, mine is not as old as yours, almost, but after all the trouble he gave me when he became a teenager, it's great to see what a loving, responsible man he is becoming. Asa glad you & yours are doing well & Boo you got your hands full lady trying to keep a stubborn man quiet. Best get off here & try to get some things done, gotta start working on a new website for my grooming. The one I have now was for the mobile grooming & even tho it says I am not doing mobile anymore, folks see the "mobile" in the web address & still expect me to do that, so I'm just re-doing the whole thing.

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59588: hi everybody--I have been trying to keep up with you all-but only haveing the libuary computer a couple times a week is awkward. Hey Sterlyte---I think there was some mention of bow legged monkeys and crosslegged ants in that thing or at least when I was in grade school that's how I remember it.
some one mentioned to me last time about sharing recipies.
well here is one I revamped to fit my new diet changes and it's a good way to get your veggies on the run.
Ahn's "V-8" soup

2tbs olive oil
1/4 large onion
1 had couliflower cut into flourets
any kind of fresh or frozen veggie you like--I used carrots spinich and broccili
4 cups chicken stock (i before accept after e and n in chicken)
or bullion.
4 cups hot water.
satue the onions and garlic in the olive oil until soft but not brown add you veggies and any seasonings you like(I use Mrs Dash table blend)
cook the veggies until soft but not mushy.
add the chicken stock and water bring to a boil and simmer for 10-15 min,
take off heat and let cool for 10min

put soup through food processor or blender until smooth--puree.
return to heat and add any extra seasonings you prefer--I use fresh cracked pepper and a few dashes of hot sauce.
heat and enjoy.
a good way to get your veggies when you are in a hurry.
I am expermneting with a veggie smoothie at the moment.
well take care all and keep healthy
Ahappynut

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59589: Wow, it's great that you are eating good, healthy food, HappyNut. I just mentioned yesterday that I put V-8 in my veggie soup and I also put in tomato sauce (I like my veggie soup with tomato). I used some beef, but it would have been healthier without it. Let us know if you come up with a veggie smoothie that we would like. I used to make a smoothie with berries that was good. Not exactly low-cal but lots of vitamins. I used plain, non-fat yogurt, a tablespoon of honey, a little ground flaxseed, and some frozen berries thrown in. The berries made it cold and added liquid to it. Blueberries are something we should all eat regularly. So very healthy!...think I'll start making those again in the morning.

You know, I was just thinking about something. I mentioned the other day that I had lost some weight that I wasn't trying to lose. I wonder if I am diabetic? I always figured it was just a matter of time. My blood sugars are boderline. I just had my blood drawn last week so I should find out if it's high soon. I'm not aware of any other symptoms, though.

Well, better get back to work.

Hey SPOT. Supper sounds great.

Mavis, good luck with the new website.

Boo

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59590: Good Saturday to everyone.

It is good to hear from Romeena and Hazel. So happy to see you both and that things are good.

I am not one to complain much but I have been having back and neck problems. I must have slept crooked or something. Yesterday and today I have been moving slowly and can not stand as straight as I should. Even hurts to turn or move in certain positions. Hopefully the problem will work itself out in a day or two. I am not a very good at having to take it easy or not being able to do what I need or want to do.

I have tried to stay busy today anyway: went to the grocery store and the to Wal Mart for cleaning supplies and such, came home and ran the vaccum and have washed 3 loads of clothes. I am sure there is other things I COULD be doing but I would much rather visit with you all.

Thanks for supper SPOT, sounds good...........

Blessings and prayers to all.

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59591: I KNEW somethin' was calling me to the porch!

Ro, glad you are at home and resting comfortably - what an ordeal! Haze, glad the Mr. is still with us - it never pays to be afraid of what people might think when it comes to going to the ER. I say: GO MAN, GO! And glad to hear that Bruce is doing OK Boo... looks like a rash of trials have befallen us all!

Big Maude - it hit you and me at the same tme! I must be brief here but 2 days ago I threw my back out... sneezing... of all the silly things! So I'm using my arms to assist in sitting/standing etc... which is making my bad arms VERY crabby! What next?! OOPS I HAD to ask.

Much love to Asa, Mavis, TOM, Au2Ho, Sterling, Rev., Spot and everyone!

Emma Watson: "I hope it's not more soup!"

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59592: Oh, dear, Big Maude, I am sorry to hear that! I just got over an episode of a pinched nerve in my neck myself. I'm sure you already know this, but you should use heat for 20 minutes, then cold for 20 then heat again for 20. With mine, I did the hot-cold routine, then popped a muscle relaxer, then put pain-reliving gel on it that the doc gave me, took some advil, and I was good to go! (For a few hours). It takes a while for these things to resolve themselves. Feel better!
And not Mrs. Wiley too! I've heard of people throwing their backs out with sneezing. You too: hot, cold, hot. Remember, I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV.

"Where there's smoke, there's fire-water."

January 12, 2008 - Msg 59593: You know Hazel, I think I mentioned the other day that I was having back spasms from carrying my baby neice around. When I went to see my GYN doctor, she noticed that I was having some difficulty getting off the table and she wrote me a script for Flexoril (sp?)...it's a muscle relaxer. I took 2 as ordered and it really helped my back but it nearly knocked me out for 2 days! I haven't been so sleepy in years. While I was in the ER with Bruce the next morning, I kept falling asleep in the room. I would lay my head on the bed rail and fall asleep, and my head would fall off (off the rail, that is) and I would wake up. It was miserable trying to stay awake. I won't take those again unless I can sleep all weekend!

It was a fairly quiet day today and I got the laundry done. It was a beautiful 75 degrees and sunny so I spent some time outside, sitting and enjoying it (watching Erin ride her bike). I am trying to enjoy life more in '08. Life is too short to stay too busy all the time. Enjoy your loved ones!

Is Breakfast ready Spot? I don't want anything too heavy that will lay on my chest. I don't want to nod off during the preachin' service. Asa bobs his head like he's agreeing with the preacher, when really he's sleeping. Wonder what causes that?
Off to get the kids up and ready. ~New Neighbor

January 13, 2008 - Msg 59600: Good afternoon, everyone. Tom, I'm feeling pretty good, thank you. Very little pain in the incision for the pacemaker, really just not much at all. I'm pretty tired, but that's natural after having any kind of surgery. Since I don't have anything I absolutely have to do, I'm enjoying just sitting around, cuddling little Starr and watching TV. A little puttering on the computer, wrote a letter to the hospital commending the staff who took care of me, and just generally taking it easy.

The weather is beautiful here today. It's 58 degrees, very slight, soft breeze, and blue skies and golden sunshine. I may go sit outside for a while. The fresh air would be good for Starr, too.

Well, off I go. Have a peaceful Sabbath, friends. --Romeena

January 14, 2008 - Msg 59605: Good morning all.
Prayers for everyone to have a safe and sound Monday. They sure do come around quick.
So good to see you back with us Romeena. Hope you continue to improve.
Glad your hubby is back home and ok Hazel. I still pray for your other situation.
How ya doing Tom? We are almost half way done with January and I'm a-ok with that. Bring on spring.
Auh2o, you guys getting the Northeaster I was hearing about? Stay dry and warm. It got up to near 40 on my porch yesterday so I sat on it for a while. Felt great. 40 around these parts in January feels like 80. The sum warmed up my old bones.
Glad Meredith made it to school safe N.N. Is she feeling better these days?
Well our 5 day forecast calls for no snow, so that will be nice. I need a break from it.
Let's meet at the Diner for lunch today. The special is chicken ala-king. I hear it's gooo-ood!

January 14, 2008 - Msg 59606: Good morning porch--just time enough to say "hey" to everyone and get back to nursemaiding! My 6 year old is home from school today with yet another virus with the same symptoms that she had with the walking pneumonia. I swear, I'm getting to the point where I'm just going to stick that child in a bubble before I send her to school! It's been one illness after another.

Hope everyone is feeling better today. Still thinking of our ailing friends. Take care everyone. MW

January 14, 2008 - Msg 59607: Hey Boo and everybody--one thing I forgot to mention about the soup--If you want a cream soup add 1 cup of low fat milk or 1/2 cup low fat sour cream or yogert after you return it from the blender to the pot.
I have been messing around with alot of my favorites to make them more healthy. I have been going over the diabetic food pyrmyd--you can find that at The American Diabeties Assn. website.
I have always liked to fool around with receipes--some times for fun and some times just out of haveing to work with what I had on hand.
On example--when my girl was little, she wanted mac and cheese one day and I was out of milk. I had a can of tomato sauce so insted of the milk and the butter I put that in insted. She will be 23 next month and to this day she still eats it that way.
any how Boo--experment--slip some veggies or fruit into something while you arn't looking. Like I did with my white beans last night--I put some carrot and spinich and seasoned it good. Take some of your fav's and mess with them.
Ahappynut
