October 20, 2007 - Msg 57196: Good Morning Porch!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah! Bryan and Nick are out of town. I feel so guilty just writing that, but Lord knows that I really need a break. Can y'all pray for my back? I've had 2 back surgeries so far and the other night after playing cornhole for 2 hours, I twisted my back and it snapped. Radiating pain down my leg and I can't sit for long. That's why I haven't been by.
Spot & Rev- Safe journey's on your trips.
Boo- I'm glad Layla's doing well and pray that Jill gets her act together. You haven't mentioned Sean or Erin lately. How's school going for them? Have you tried Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea when can't sleep? I like it and putting lavendar in my epsom salt bath.
George- Tell us a little about yourself.
New Neighbor- Sad about those kids. I'll be honest, I'm terrified of Nick driving in 2.5 years. He's always in competetion with people and I worry that he'll need to compete in street racing.
Poor Horatio- Did you have a nice Thanksgiving (Canadian) last week?
Mavis- There are a few cookbooks in the Fix-it & Forget-it series. Those are fabulous. Also, there are always several recipes in Taste of Home and Southern Living cookbooks. I thought you lived in a house?.
Belle- I hope the housing situation works out! I'd hate commuting that much. However I spend 3 hours a day in my car in the carpool line! Nick goes to a charter school 30 minutes 1 way and of course there's always waiting time for Bryson even though his school is only 5 minutes away.
Spot- My guys are going through a growth spurt right now too. Nick is now as tall as I am-5'9 and he's only 13! Bryson's almost to my shoulders and he's only 9.
Hazel- Are you growing any container gardens for the fall?
NN- How's your daughter feeling today? I just keep thinking of that Superbug.
Boo- I think it's sad that people condemn those who have alot of children. I have 3 really good friends that believe God will give them as many children as He wants them to have. I always wish them well and wish I could do the same thing. I cannot physically have them (assuming since losing 4), and I do not think anything of them having so many. Between my 3 (2 step) there are 16 between us. I love all of their kids and am happy for the babies when they come!
MDC- I pray you are doing well. Check in when you can. Thank you for sharing Romans 12:2. Right now, I'm repeating Philippians 4 about watching your tongue.
Opiemom- Sorry to hear about your son. That's terrible. Is okay about it all now?
Romeena- Have fun with your puppy! When do you get her?
Possum- That's too bad about your sister, but do NOT be too hard on yourself. The Lord forgives us.
Tom- How are your recent health problems?
Auh20- Prayers for your Mother during her grief.
Me-They- I don't have anything to add for the moulage. As I've mentioned before I do not watch the news, and barely read the news online.
Well, I'm gonna get off of here. My hip is hurting. It's sad to say that at 30 years old I've already had 2 back surgeries and 4 ankle surgeries. I need Rev. Tucker and Ellie's new handsome Doc to come heal me!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings to you and yours,
~Lucy
Rain, Rain, Come this way! Anyone know how to do an African rain dance?

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57197: Forgot to mention a little rant I'd like to have. Now, we don't have TVLand so I watch the TAG dvd's all of the time. However, I was looking at the TVGuide and saw that Designing Women's on TVLand?! That's awful. What happened to I love Lucy, Beaver, Mr Ed? How can y'all stand that?
Well, all that sweeping wore me out. After while crocodile...

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57198: Good morning, all. Just finished a 12-hr shift at the hospital, and am tired, too tired to walk on eggshells this morning. So, I'm just gonna say it.

George, if I've ever encountered a holier-than-thou attitude, buddy, you've got one. Before you start talking about other people "claiming to be Christian", you'd better check your own judgmental meter. NO ONE used the words you referred to, not conversationally. Our sweet Possum REFERRED to a couple of words in the most delicate way she could have done, simply to let us know what was going on in the latest development in her nutty sister's behavior. We know the history. You don't. You think you got blasted? My friend, you keep it up and you're going to be picking verbal rock salt out of your backside. When you start picking on my friends, you're walking on my fighting side, and you don't even want to go there.

I challenge you to spend the next two days or whatever it would take, and read the archives, and find just ONE instance where a porchster has used profanity. What you read was a carefully edited reference to what someone else said, simply to let us know what she was dealing with. You're out of line, buddy. Boo and auh2o were very gentle with you. Perhaps they're not as tired as I am at this moment, and I'm flat out of patience with this nonsense.

Now, as far as I'm concerned, we can discuss anything on this porch, so long as we refrain from accusations, name-calling, insinuations and rudeness, and I'm talking to myself first of all. We're a family, we'll have some differing opinions and such, but as long as we treat each other kindly and with gentleness, we should be able to discuss whatever comes up. As for George, I think he needs to go play someplace else, because I don't think he likes us, and that's okay with me. Somehow, he managed to bring out the Irish in me.

Blessings, y'all! --Romeena

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57199: And no, I don't think I was rude to George. I was truthful. Sometimes the truth hurts. --Romeena

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57200: Thanks George, the headache is much better now.

When you say, "Do you think we should just overlook the language...", all I can say is that I try to be careful what language I use here on the porch but I can't dictate what eveyone else can say. We are free moral agents and can make those decisions according to our own conscience but to me, it hasn't really been a problem. I have not been offended and I don't use bad launguage in my private life, or expose myself to such things on purpose. Now as far as Me-They using the "P" word, I have no explaination for that. He is without excuse and should probably be stoned or something! ha...just kidding, M-T. Seriously, though, I'm not sure what it is you would like to see happen, George. Floyd runs the porch and he can always make rules about things if he wishes, but he has always been good about sitting back and letting things happen naturally. He steps in when there is a real need to, in my opinion.

Hey Auh2o. Glad your mom is doing ok.

Boo

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57201: Whoa, you snuck in on me there, Romeena. Hope you get some needed rest. You deserve it as hard as you work to serve others.

Boo

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57202: Floyd did you add some new rules here that we did not no about?

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57203: Hey, Boo. I'm glad the headache is better. I declare, it just floored me, coming home from work and finding out that the Christianity of my friends and myself doesn't measure up to the standards of some self-appointed critic. He can criticize me all he wants, I know that my value is not determined by his opinion, but it really turns my fur backward when he starts picking on my porch friends, and calling their Christianity into question, especially someone as sweet as Possum.

Now, I'm off to bed. Gotta work again tonight, unless I get lucky and get cancelled. Oh, let me put that in more Christian terms. "Unless God chooses to smile upon me, and arranges for me to be cancelled." Wow - see how easy it is to sound decadent, without meaning to? --Romeena

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57204: Romeena get some rest..Lucy we do need that rain girl!.."Dry as Dust"...hee hee..Boo glad you are feeling better...where is Tom and Asa?..hey horatio,auh20,possum,M-T,mav,des,belle,ray,miller,NW,mdc,md and all..dr. October 20, 2007 - Msg 57205: Again, I just asked that the language that is used " ON THE PORCH " to not be in reference to those words AND OTHER WORDS THAT YOU WOULD NOT NORMALLY SAY. AS far as the archives, there are other examples, but after being asked for them , I would not go there.
After all, I have been asked to give examples.
VERBAL ROCK SALT IN BACKSIDE?
I have watched ANDY GRIFFITH and never heard those words
Well,I guess that is the pat answer for some on the porch is to say "go play somewhere else".
Is that what is said to all who just question the comments made?
WELL, AT LEAST THERE WAS A HISTORY LESSON LEARNED AS SOME DID NOT KNOW OLLIE AND FRANK.

George

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57206: Romeena, have a nice day's rest. I do like the porch but do not like some of the words that are being referenced to in some of the posts. There are a lot of other ways to get a point across ,rather than referencing to those words.

George

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57207: Oh Romeena, congratulations on giving the correct answer to FRANK AND OLLIE. Good to talk to someone who is knowledgeable on the porch , even if you don't want me around.

George

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57213: Whew..Hey my buddy TOM will you look for Asa?....signed: SPOT

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57214: A couple things come to my mind regarding the recent posts. I've been posting here since May of '01, and I didn't have a computer before that, so I don't really know how Frank and Ollie did things. I think back then people posted more one-lined comments, mostly about TAGS. And this Front Porch kind of started that way, but has sort of evolved into something else. We still use TAGS quotes and refer to the show (me, more than others...) but the common denominator is a love for the Andy Griffith Show and its values. I have never, ever heard one of my fellow porchsters use bad language. The censor wouldn't let us even if we wanted to. I don't swear in my personal life and my husband gets the leg-o-lamb when he does. Anyhow, I guess what I'm saying is that we may be different than the way Frank and Ollie did things, but you can't say one-lined comments all the time. Eventually you get to know the other posters, and next thing you know you care about them, and somehow after that you consider them your good friends and you end up telling them more about your personal life and asking about theirs. But I strayed from the subject... the point I'm making is that we're good folks, like the kind on the "old" porches and would never intentionally offend someone or use abusive language. The 2 examples you referred to are actually quite rare; folks don't usually even refer to foul language here, but someimes it slips into the conversation. We are human. And especially in Possums post, she was describing what someone else said, and if you knew the backgroud you might understand!
But I think more importantly what irks me, and a lot of folks, George, is when people pass thru here and take a swipe at us about something. We welcome folks here; the more the merrier - but periodically we have people stop by who have been "lurking" for a few days, or weeks, or months, and have never bothered to say Hi or post anything, or really get to know us. Instead they pick out a couple posts that they find fault with, and then decide to post their disgust of such posts. An example might be, and I'm sure we've all been there; like if you've worked someplace for years, along with a lot of people, and a new person starts and on their first day they point out all the things that could use improving, and make comments about things they find fault with. On their very first day. It's enough to get your jaw-muscles twitchin'! To me it's done more nicely if you get to know the people first, let them get to know you, then maybe gently bring up things that bother you. You seem like a nice fellow, and Romeena sugested you take a couple days and read the archives. Well, I say take a couple days and post here. If you still don't like us after a couple days, then fine. But no need to come back, or continue to lurk, because I don't think we're going to change. We are just decent folk having conversations. Sometimes we even say things that we later regret, and then we apologize.
Didn't we just get over a moulage? Must be the fall-out, it's affecting our milk.
- Hazel

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57215: Ooops, your last 3 or 4 posts snuck on me while I was writing my book, George. Looks like you are going to stay, at least for the weekend. I'll go on the picnic, but I'm not going to go exploring the cave this time. I got a bat in my hair last time.

MAYBERRY DEOUTY

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57220: I'll go along, Spot. Can I drive the tractor? I actually started driving tractors when I was 5 years old! No foolin'. We lived on a farm and I'd go out to the field with my Dad, and he would sit me up in the drivers seat and start the tractor up, and all I had to do was steer and gently keep my foot on the gas. It would be when he was stacking hay, which he did by hand. So I'd drive the tractor down the rows, and he'd heave the bales into the wagon behind the tractor. When we'd get to the end, he'd climb up and help me to turn it around then we'd go back up the next row. Eventually I could turn it around myself. There was never much danger, we never got over about 2 miles an hour! So, Spot, I'll drive, as long as we don't have to go around too many corners...

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57222: It must be something in the water--I had a horrible migraine and couldn't get rid of it as well. Finally, my medicine worked. BELLE, I also use Maxalt but it can upset my stomach so then I resort to Relpax. BOO, sorry to hear about your headache and NN, sure hope your daughter is better. Bless her. Mine are weather-related too. I have other factors but I won't get into them since it's a more "womanly" thing. ;-)

POSSUM, I just want you to know that what you said was not offensive and you were merely describing a situation. I want to say something, and I sincerely hope I do not offend anyone because it is NOT my intention to do so. I try to take great lengths to appreciate all of you individually as much as possible. But I would like to point out that this isn't officially a "Christian" site. It's an Andy Griffith forum. Not everyone here is a Christian. And that's ok. We love each other and do our best to get along and appreciate the differences we all have. With that said, I know that those of us who are Christian, love to share our spirituality by holding each other up through difficult times, by praying for one another and just by being here to lend an ear or a shoulder to lean on. And that's all I have to say about that.

George, WELCOME! The picnic sounds lovely and I'd like to bring some homemade strawberry shortcake to go along, if that's ok.

To my dear friends in the Southeast--I continue to pray that the Lord will ease the drought by bringing you rain.

My dear spelunking friends, I have a healthy fear of caves so I will be waiting on the outside ready to get the boys together for a search party! Just do me a favor, no sneakin' out to change clothes! HA!

I'm sending up well wishes and prayer for auh2o's mom and hoping MDC's procedure went well.

Hope everyone is having a restful and PEACEFUL weekend.

Love to all---Merri Weather

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57227:
Hello there porch family....I made it safely to Maine. Kinda cold and rainy right now. Thanks for your prayers.

N.N....prayers for your daughter. That's got to be so hard when she's so far away. I truely am praying for you.

Mavis....I'll have to check out that Camping World site. Sounds neat.

Folks we really need to be praying about the drought in the southeast. It's serious.

MDC...how ya doing buddy?

Ro...sure hope you got some rest. I was at a Applebees in Conway, NH today and saw a lady walking a little white dog and it reminded me so much of you. Of course I'm sure she wasn't as sweet as you....but then again I'm sure I'm a little bias.

Hey Spot...praying things are going good with you brother. Where my moterhome is parked here in Maine, I'm not sure if I'll be able to see any of the Sox/Indian game tonight.

George....welcome....I'll just say this to you buddy.....just get to know the hearts of these wonderful folks here. This our family. And yep....Ro spoke her very feelings. But you have to understand something.....when I had a chance to meet Ro recently, she talked about the folks on this porch as a true friend. These people mean so much to each of us. When a prayer request is posted, we take it serious. When someone is hurting, we all feel that hurt. When someone has a concern, it becomes our concern. That's just the way this porch family is. So when Ro felt you were attacking the morals of one of our family members....well it just ruffled some feathers. Just get to know us and I think you'll realize that we're not perfect but we sure do have a whole lots of love for the folks here.

Everyone have a blessed night and remember.... JESUS loves you!
Prayers for all.

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57228: A lesson I learned from my father many years ago, “If you can’t say something nice about a person, just Shut Up!” He lived by this philosophy. I so well remember one time discussing a business partner of his that had left him with the short end of the stick and saying some not very nice things about it. Dad listened to me for a while and made his statement of “if you can’t….” He held no grudges even though he had been taken for many thousands of $$. To this day I try to be more like him in his philosophy.

Kinda tired tonight, re-sodded 20 squares of grass by the driveway where the deer had stomped it down and the heavy rains eroded. With the half yard of soil, grass and all headed for a bath with a lot of MgSO4-7H2D....epsom salt.

On my knees if a few and prayers for all.

Lucy I'm sorry to hear about your back, believe me sister, I know all about back troubles, too many years of grooming & hard-headedness(is that even a word?) did mine in. But, to answer your question, we do live in a house, but love going out in the motorhome every chance we get. Just got back from a week in Gettysburg spent in it. I knew the Rev spent alot more time in his motorhome than we did & would enjoy that site.
Rev don't forget that special butter for the lobster while yer there. MMMM that's good eatin
Merri I tried the Relpax too, but what works the best for me is Zomig. Not hard on the stomach & gets rid of it fast.
Hazel I knew it, that bat laid eggs in your hair didn't she?? teehee
Boo how did the sister-in-law visit go?
George best bring ALOT of fried chicken, if Asa shows up, you'll need it! And for crying out loud, whatever you do, don't let hm bring any meatballs! She makes them from goat meat ya know. teehee

Just checkin' in with the family before goin' to the ironing board. Daughter is doing better, but she said she still is dizzy. Thanks for the prayers for her and the families that had their sons' in the car accident.
Hey Rev: What route do you take through the PA state south?
Mavis: Glad to see you again.
As for Asa- I talked to him this morning, he was going to try to post, but the day must have gotten long for him. He has had his plate full for the last few months. Mrs. Asa is on a special medicine for a while, but is still exhausted all the time. Pray for her healing and rest. Her liver has "extensive" damage. Thanks and good night. ~New Neighbor

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57232: Hello everyone.

Lucy, sorry to hear about your back problems. I will pray for you. And as for the Canadian Thanksgiving, we had to delay it one week because I was in the states at that time.

New Neighbor, I will also remember your daughter in my prayers.

And prayers for possum under the rock to help you deal with your sister.

Ok folks, I have read all of George's postings, all of your responses, and the offending postings. Concentrating on the crux of this issue, if we examine George's first posting in Msg 57164, he did state "(the mention of ugly words, even if they are just the first letter)". To me that means that George considers our attempts at disguising offensive words just as offensive as if we had posted the entire words. Whether the disguise is accomplished through the use of abbreviations, hidden characters, innuendos or physical gestures, the same thought can be conveyed as if we had posted or expressed the complete word. I can understand how some people might consider this to be offensive. What about you folks?
Now as for George, your blunt style of expressing your opinion is what got some people here on the defensive. Before posting about a sensitive issue, read it before you post it and think of how it might be interpreted by others. Then modify your words accordingly to ensure that your posting won't be misinterpreted or offensive to us. Then post it.
Judging from George's continued postings, it seems like he wishes to remain here. He is more than welcome as far as I'm concerned. Once he gets to know us better and we get to know him better, we can stop offending each other.

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57233: You are so right about the relationship of our porch family, REV. Thanks!

"Hey" to Ray. How's the weather up near San Antonio? Been a nice day here.

Mavis, I feel for you and Possum because I know what you are missing by having sisters who don't love you as they should. I have the best sister in the whole world and we have never had a real fight. She is just a wonderful, loving Christian who lives to serve. Not a mean bone in her body unless you threaten one she loves. I can't thank God enough for what she is to me. I wish it could be that way for both of you. Prayers for you and your sisters. Maybe the future will be different for you.

The visit with sis-in-law went just fine. Took her out to eat at the local diner. Had the chicken-fried steak and corn fritters! mmm

Thanks for the report on Asa and Mrs. Asa, NN, prayers for their situation. Glad your daughter is feeling better. I had a little dizzy spell tonight and then my head felt kind of numb and I saw some sparks...that can only mean one thing, migraine in the making! Maybe if I fall asleep quick I can avoid it.

October 20, 2007 - Msg 57235: Boo treasure your sister as long as you can! I do miss my sister terribly! Breaks my heart, but don't know what else to do about it. I can't keep "turning the other cheek' so she can just keep on slapping. I gotta get away from it. Since Mom passed away she is like a different person. Growing up, we were together all the time. Mom had to work 3 jobs at times in our lives & that left me & her & the babysitter, so we were VERY close. When Mom passed, it did something to her, mentally. She is just plain mean & self centered anymore. Everything bad that happens to her is my fault, even now. Last time I talked to her was Dec 26 last year, when she called to tell me to stay out of her life & she didn't have a sister anymore. I haven't talked to her since. Does it hurt? Yes it does, more than I care to admit at times, but I have to let it go or it will eat at me. Besides, I have a new life with a new husband that I intend to focus on. Can't dwell on bad things or it will come between us, and THAT my friends, is not gonna happen!
Well, I could tell you more, & probably will, but gotta get to bed right now, gonna have coffee & enjoy a visit with my baby brother in the am. My baby brother who is 40 that is. teehee

SLAM----OOPS

October 21, 2007 - Msg 57238: Not sure I undestand your last post, Auh2o..

Mavis, that is so sad. I wish things were different for you but I am so glad that you now are blessed with a wonderful man to share your life with.

When I woke up, I had been dreaming about Karen, that she came back for awhile and before she left she told me that she left a message behind for me to find. I searched and searched for it but never found it. I still have this vague feeling of "unfinished business". I guess I was just missing her yesterday when we attended the birthday party for the son of one of our good friends. I kept feeling like I was waiting for Karen to show up because she never missed the kid's birthday parties. It suprises me sometimes how it is still painful at times, not easier.

Up too early...seem to have a little virus or something (or maybe it was the food from the diner last night!). Think I'll try to lay back down for a bit.

October 21, 2007 - Msg 57244: Boo, me and my sister were just like you and yours. Best friends. We never got in a fight either; she was the most giving and kind person I've ever met. She loved all her family and friends so much. She was also a huge TAGS fan, like me! Coincidently, her name was Karen. Anyhow, she died in March of '94. I write this because of your post about missing your friend. The pain does get easier to handle, but the part about missing her at events and such never goes away. At least it hasn't for me yet. Her kids were 9 and 12 at the time, so all the school plays, various graduations, etc - I still sit there with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. She would be sitting there so proud and exicited for her kids. I know she is watching, but I sure still miss her.

Ladies- I have 1 sister, and growing up it was just us. She is nearly 7 years older than I so we didn't have that playing together sisterly bond. She was my babysitter. As we aged I turned to her alot. A couple of years ago she was driving and we were in a car accident. Not a big one, but that's what initially put the pinched nerve in my back. I got chiro treatments using the accident policy and her husband got angry with me. My sister and I barely spoke for over a year. We just recently (last year or so) have gotten closer. I still cannot open up to her about anything important because she'll go running to my parents, but we are good friends. I still give her Bryson's hand me downs that my parents bought him.
Rev- Get some of those Maine blueberries, organic, of course!
Tom- I thought you lived in Ohio, not WV.
New Neighbor- Thank you for the update on Asa. Tell him we miss him dearly, thank you.
Hazel- I really enjoy all of your TAGS quotes.
Spot- did you hear there's a chance of rain tomorrow and Tuesday? Have you thought of stockpiling water? I'm seriously considering.
Poor Horatio- I like what you said about George.
Ray- Good to hear from you.
Well, I'm gonna go make some bread (with machine) and clip coupons. Maybe I'll find a new Chinese recipe from the Sunday paper!
Y'all have a wonderful day. New Neighbor reminded us, This is the Day the Lord hath Made, as he does everyday.
Blessings to you and yours,

Lucy...we got our supply of blueberries on my last trip here in July/Aug.. We know where some fields are that are just full of wild blueberries. Untouched by chemicals or any man made junk. They are so gooooood!

Well better start getting ready for tonights concert. I'll check in tonight.
Prayers for all.

Afternoon Lucy: Pull up a chair, we'll visit for a while. We'll have to whisper. Afraid I accidently slammed the screendoor this morning and woke some people up. They're probably snoozing while surfing between the game and race.
Kinda hungry. How about a piece of fresh apple pie and a dip of icecream?
Hey Boo how's the headache?
Haven't seen anything of Asa today. He's keeping a low profile lately ( I don't know how...seen that nose? Just kidding ASA!!!) ~New Neighbor

October 21, 2007 - Msg 57252: I'm doing ok, thanks NN.

Hazel, thank you for sharing your sister with us. I am so sorry you had to lose her in this life. I can't even imagine such pain. Losing my best freind has made me feel much more alone in this world, somehow, and I don't know what I would do without my big sister. When you spoke of your sister's children growing up, I was reminded of yesterday. Karen's youngest daughter (age 8) was at the birthday party I attended and she had come straight from a softball game. I was looking at her as she sat eating a snowcone and I was so surprised at how she has grown in the past few months and it was painful to think that her mother won't be able to watch her grow up and see what a little lady she it. It just feels so unfair that I am seeing it and she's not. I'm trying to focus on the positive and be thankful, that I can still be a part of Karen's children's lives but, as you said, it still hurts. As strange as it sounds Hazel, it comforts me somehow to know that you understand how I feel. Again, thank you for sharing....I don't think it was an easy thing for you to do. You're a good friend.

Lucy, hope things continue to go well between you and your sister...life is so short. I hope she won't let anything come between the two of you again. I have had some knock-down-drag-out's with my sister's husband (he's been my brother-in-law since I was 14), but it never caused friction between my sister and I and when my husband has offended her, I backed her up and was a peacemaker between them. I know it sounds strange, but I just honestly don't remember a time when we fought about anything. I think we have a great deal of respect for one another and we place much value on our relationship. I wish so much that Possum and Mavis had sisters who would come along side them and love them instead of hurting them.

Today in church I had to share a testimony about what the Lord was doing at the drug rehab and I was so nervous. I really can't stand public speaking (can anyone relate?). I started out ok but when I started talking about the girls, I started crying and I had a hard time finishing. I only said about 10% of what I wanted to say. I was embarrassed, but I know that is just pride (not wanting to look stupid in front of people). I need to leave it in God's hands. If he can use a donkey (remember Balaam?) to speak what He's wants people to hear, I guess He can use what I said if He wishes. Hehe I need to get over caring about what people think. My pastor asked me last week to share with some kind of Baptist Committee of church leaders about what God is doing at the rehab and I told him I would try...it terrifies me to think about it, though. I really need to get over it.

Erin sang a little song in church called "Fishing for The Lord". It was cute! Wish you could have heard it.

Think I'll find a cup of coffee to perk me up. I am looking forward to the time change because I am hoping I will be able to sleep later in the morning. I wake up every morning before daylight and I get so tired by the afternoon! Is this just part of getting older?! ha I guess I'll soon be like those old folks you see around the nursing home with their heads slumped over in the middle of the day....

Supposed to get a REAL cool front tomorrow...I better go out and get the fixin's for some chili! Sean has his testing tomorrow to determine how is he doing with the ADD and Dyslexia. Please remember him if you are so inclined in your prayers.

Next weekend is Bruce's birthday and he turns 50!! His mom and her husband are coming for the weekend and I think we will have the first cookout of the season. Wish you could all be here to roast some hotdogs with us.

Better got see about Erin.

October 21, 2007 - Msg 57261: Hey, gang! Wonderful news, MDC. Are you on anything for that atrial fib? Is it chronic, continuous, or intermittent? I had short runs of A-fib, along with about six other arrhythmias, including PVCs at about 8-10 a minute, until my doc put me on atenolol, and things run smooth as silk now. That A-fib is annoying - makes you feel like you're purring.

Well, I met little Toye Starr (that's it so far) this afternoon, and all I can say is - I fell in love. She's very tiny, but she's all there, very playful, but when I picked her up, she cuddled down right away and seemed content to just stay there. The breeder says she will cuddle as long as you want, then is ready to play when you are. She and her family carry the puppies around the house all day and evening, making sure each one gets at least an hour of individual cuddle/play time every day, along with group play, trips outdoors in good weather, just a lot of socialization. So, Starr is definitely pre-spoiled, and by the way, almost completely house-trained - and to a piddle pad no less, not to the outdoors. Hooray! With my schedule it has to be that way, so I'm glad I won't have to try to change her habit. She's cute, she's gorgeous, and she's mine. I'll get her in 16 days!

Have a great week, everyone. --Romeena

October 21, 2007 - Msg 57262: Wow, that's awesome, Ro. Starr is even house-trained already! Can't wait until you can bring her home.

October 22, 2007 - Msg 57266: Hey George what part of the porch do you sit on? I sit on the NE Tenn end, here in Bristol. And yes Boo someone was a little harsh with George, but I think if he really wants to stay, he is at least figuring out how the porch works. (I hope so anyway) Romeena did you get pictures?? I bet you wanted to take her then & there! Hazel I am sorry about the loss of your sister, it has to hurt, I know losing mine this way seems just like losing her to death. Boo things do get easier as far as the hurt, it does ease somewhat, but like Hazel said, things like graduations, parties, holidays, do bring it back up again. I know since Mom passed away, I just dread the thoughts of holidays & such, this year I KNOW will be easier since I have such a wonderful husband to enjoy them with AND a little brother that is finally off the drugs & back in my life! I lost a sister, but I gained a wonderful husband, a little brother back, a sister-in-law, a nephew & 2 neices that I just love! So I say....I AM BLESSED! Tom not sure where you would write for the gum wrappers, but I will see what I can do about getting some more to you. We don't get to WV often, but we did go through Harpers Ferry on the way home from PA. When we do, I'll be sure to give you a holler. MDC how cool that you got to watch that dye procedure! I would have passed out probably. So glad to hear things are well, but we knew you had a big heart already! ;) Where is Merri? Hope the creeping crud didn't get her down. I best get off here & get in the bed, been up late helping hubby with paperwork & we are both dog tired (get it? dog groomer~dog tired?) heehee
Now I know I need to go to bed, getting silly. ;)

October 22, 2007 - Msg 57270: Mornin' Y'all. Good report,MDC-gotta take care of that ticker!

Awwh,Ro,little Starr sounds like a real gem.I just know she's going to light up your life.

Hazel, that was a touching account of you and your sister.Thank you for sharing that.As Boo said, you are a good friend.

I do want y'all to know that I have another sister who is as sweet as pie, plus an older half-sister that is so caring & understanding. The one I have all the trouble with is my youngest-she has lots of issues from childhood, plus she puts things in her body that are big no-nos.I am a big follower of Joel Osteen & last night, boy,he was talking right at me.The topic: How To Handle Criticism. One point that struck me is that he said that people say & do things against others due to jealousy, because they look at the way we are living our lives and are resentful of the joy we have.He said the good in some people just brings out the bad in others.Amen.He also mentioned that in the Bible when the enemy came to attack a village, they would take the stones off of the surrounding wall and throw them into the villager's well, knowing that if they could stop up or poison the well,so to speak, they would force the people to come out and fight. The Bible refers to the stone throwers as "slingers",Joel said. He stressed the point to not let the slingers poison our wells. My sister is a slinger, for sure ,and from now on my well will stay covered against her attacks.

That concludes my Monday morning sermon! Spot,I want to sit next to you at the Waffle House in case Kid Rock shows up- I think together we can take him! Ha!
Y'all have a great day.
