I found a Sting Ray bike for my son a few weeks ago and was happy to luck into it. You can hardly lay your hands on one around here. They say they are a big item this year for Christmas. Its what he wanted and I told him not to expect much else if he gets it (the thing cost 190.00!). Cute bike, though...kind of looks like a motorcycle.
Alyce, you sound like a regular Martha Stewart! My friends who are less domestic sometimes call me that (and that is a long-shot, to be sure!). To some of my buddies, if you can manage to cook a meal or two a week and know how to bake a cookie, you qualify as Martha Stewart.

Thought I would share this, taken from an email.
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time it might
be too late. Seize the day. Never have regrets.
And most importantly, stay close to your friends and
family, for they have helped make you the person that
you are today.

Howdy, friends! I made it back from Fredericksburg on Monday night, and have been pretty busy since then. My painter/carpenter/plumber/whatever friend is here painting the inside of my house. It's looking great - a little color on the walls this time. I've always just gone with an eggshell white, but I really wanted color. It looks very nice, he's doing a great job as always. Don't anyone tell Newton Monroe that we're painting here, I don't think Ted would appreciate his help.
Had a wonderful time in Fredericksburg. All four of my kids and both daughters-in-law were there, and all the grandkids. Lovely time. One daughter has a big firepit out in her back yard (semi-rural) and we had fires out there, roasted sausages, toasted marshmallows (mo-mo-mos to one small grandson) and toasted our toes as well, as it was quite chilly and drizzly.
I got to meet my newest granddog, a yellow lab that my daughter rescued from the pound. Beautiful dog, obviously a purebred, well-trained and very sweet. Somebody lost a friend somewhere, but no one ever claimed her from the pound and she was about to be put to sleep. She's gorgeous, and just stole my heart. She and the Plum got along just fine. Bella wouldn't hurt her, and the Plum seemed to know it. She disciplines my daughter's feisty little Jack Russell/fox terrier mix, though. She puts up with her pestering and nonsense just so long, then raises her baseball bat-sized left paw, and swats Maisy clear across the room. It's hilarious. Maisy just comes back for more.
I had my thallium stress test today, and the preliminary, very superficial results as reported by the tech were good. We now have to wait for the doctor to do an in-depth interpretation, but I'm feeling so much better than I was that I think things are going to be okay. Thanks for the prayers, friends.
Well, off I go. It's suppertime. Have a great evening, everyone. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

I do appreciate all the folks that like our baked goods, it's just that it overwhelms me at times. Pray for wellness, endurance, and most of all patience to deal with customers becoming more and more anxious over the holidays. Seems a shame, when we should be focusing on the good things and the real meaning of THANKSGIVING and CHRISTMAS,we get befuddled with DETAILS!! Just don't seem right-somehow. HOW MANY PIES?! Wow, that's alot of pies, NN.
Welcome home, Ro. So glad you had a good time with the family. Hope you continue to feel better.
Great story about Randy Quaid, Rev. He is just hilarious in the Vacation movies. As I have said before, Robert Duvall is amazing in anything he does. I just love that Texas boy!
My favorite Christmas movies are #1) A Christmas Carol (the one with George C. Scott) #2) A Christmas Story (with Ralphie) and #3) National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (the edited version without the bad words)...oh, And I also love Its a Wonderful Life, of course.
Alyce don't you just love the part in Christmas Vacation when the squirrrel is chasing them? There are so many things in that movie that just kill me. Remember the part when Clark and Randy Quaid's character (I forgot his name) are drinking egg nog in the living room and Randy is wearing that sweater with the little dickie and when Clark asks about his kids, he tells him that his son is working in a carnival, "barking for the Yak Woman"! That's the scene when Clark says to him, "Can I get you anything?...(under his breath)..Drive you out into the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?"
Well, better go see about the kiddos. Ya'll have a great evening!

Well MDC, I have been drooling over the thought of going to Colorado on Dec 1st, however I just received the news this morning that my dad will have to have a pacemaker put in very soon but I haven't received a date yet....so things kind of depend on him at this point. Doc says he should be in the hospital for about 3 days...might even be in there for Thanksgiving, poor old dude (heehee)....imagine, hospital food on Thanksgiving! I don't have to imagine it. Being a nurse, I have worked many a Thanksgiving and the hospital would give us free turkey and dressing in the cafeteria. They had to give the stuff aways cause nobody would pay for it.
I better get going. My husband is having his thanksgiving lunch at work today and families are supposed to attend. I have never gone to it before but he wants me to come and bring the kids to meet his work friends. Hope ya'll have a great day!

Boo, I hope all goes well for your father, I will be praying for him and the rest of your family. Does his operation take away your trip to Colorado, or is it now a wait and see kind of trip? I hope you can still go.
There is one holiday movie I have been trying to remember the ti-tle to. I first saw it last year, on TCM I think. It had Cary Grant and he played an angel who was helping out a woman who was married to a preacher. I just can't think of the ti-tle though. I believe there was a remake of it a few years ago, which I never saw, maybe called the Bishop's Wife, or something, but this old movie was just delightful. Of course, having Cary Grant in it didn't hurt it none in my eyes anyway ;)! If anyone can remind me of the name of this movie, I'd be right appreciative!
I got a few chores left to do, so I best get to doing 'em! I will rock with y'all again real soon!
'Night all!
