April 24, 2003 - Msg 3: ha ha...Yeah, she told me to clean up my room but I just didn't do it good enough. Actually the problem was some of the Log files that the server creates for me. I cleared those out and now I have about 40Megs more of space! I didn't even realize those logs grew that large. Anyway, we're good to go for now.

April 24, 2003 - Msg 12: Fun girl, I have heard different things, as I'm sure you have about anointing with oil. Coming from an Assembly Of God background, I have seen it practiced often and have been anointed many times. I now attend a Baptist church where it really isn't practiced. I have heard that in biblical times, people were anointed with oil for medical reasons so when thinking of the verse that says to call together the elders of the church and anoint the sick with oil, I'm not sure about the reason (whether it is a physical or spiritual reason). Some Christians use anointing oil kind of like Catholics use holy water. They pray over the oil and sanctify it and believe that it has power over evil spirits. I don't know where I stand on the issue but I know that what really matters is faith. If a person anoints with oil in faith it can accomplish much because it is the prayer of faith that makes the difference, I believe. Interesting topic, maybe I will do a study on it. I am remembering when the prophet Samuel anointed David as king over Israel so it must have alot of significance. All you bible scholars.....step forward.

I would like to ask your prayers for this weekend, for my upcoming trip to Mexico. Our pastor (with the infected leg wound) is in the hospital getting IV antibiotics so he won't be coming, but several of us are still going. There is much work to be done. Please pray for our success and safety. Appreciate ya'll!

April 24, 2003 - Msg 14: Yeah Boo, I remember that one. Ya know, I agree with what you said about the annointing. I think that I would hesitate to put the faith in the oil instead of the prayer. To tell you the truth I am not even sure that our church even uses actual oil, but maybe more like a laying on of hands. I have a meeting with out pastor this weekend about it. I am just not getting any relief with this back thing and the resulting pain in my leg and ankle. I have tried physical therapy and for any other medical interventions I must wait until the spine has fully fused which could be up to a year. I just celebrated my 4 month anniversary since surgery and so to me waiting that long is not an option. Exercise is becoming limited because afterward, my condition is worse than it was before. I have talked to my doctors, both of them, and both say it will take a while to heal. So...instead of putting my trust in earthly physicians, I have decided to seek healing from the Heavenly Physician who designed this body and knows what's what. "For I did knit you together, even before you were born." What beautiful words of comfort from the Master Physician. Who knows me better than He?

I will let you know what Pastor says and would appreciate special prayers on the day of the annointing if that is what we decided to go ahead and do.

Say fungirl, about 21 yrs. ago I was down in my back, I had a job and 2 young sons to take care of and I couldn't even get out of bed it was so bad, I lived in Okla. at the time and I called my Aunt in Bloomington, In. and told her, she told me they would be praying, the next day she called and told me that at 5pm her and her prayer group would go to prayer for me and that I should at 5pm go to prayer with them and agree on my healing in the name of Jesus and we did and at that moment I felt a burning sensaction all up and down my back and I was healed, God touched me back then and healed me, He says where two or three gather together in my Name (and Faith believe) ... The oil is an outword oh how do I say it, will I also believe in prayer cloths, this all has to do with Faith, your Faith , remember all you need is Faith the size of a mustard seed.

April 25, 2003 - Msg 13452: Neat testmonies. You know, I have a good friend who was born with a disease that made him infertile and actually caused his bones to bend. By the time he was thirty his feet were so deformed that he was in a wheelchair. He and his wife were really struggling over their situation. Well, they went to a crusade to hear a preacher who prayed for the sick and while they were sitting in the audience, his legs started "burning". He took off his leg braces and started running up the isle. He was totally healed and within a very short time, his wife became pregnant, too, also confirming his healing. He is still (over ten years later) completely fine. That was one of those miracles that you can't deny and I witnessed it myself. His wife died last year and he is raising his daughter by himself now so I think about how much harder it would have been if he was still handicapped. God is real, and he still heals.

April 25, 2003 - Msg 13455: Thanks so much for all the testimonies about healing and annointing. The pastor says during annointing they gather the church together for a prayer and praise session, while they would be doing the annointing at my parent's home. I am kinda excited about it.

Now homemaker, I know you must wonder what got into me when I posted that I signed to release Kyle from Hearing Impaired services. And boy, have I ever come to rue that decision. I find that he needs some help in middle school and now that I have signed the release it is to late. Now we have to start a partial referal packet. What does that mean? Is there anyway we can get any kind of help without him having to deal with that woman? The director of special services here, it is rumored, has turned into a not very nice lady. She used to be quite kind when she was school psyhologist, but since taking over special services she is not quite so kind. Anyway, I talked to her today and she bascially she said it was an all or nothing at all proposition. I kept asking if we could use the H. I. teacher on a consultation basis and still get him some other help, but she didn't say yes and she didn't say no. But she was rather negative. My sister who lives in Michigan says that if you have a problem with a H. I. instructor there, you have the option of asking the school district to contract one for your child. I don't know if that is true in Indiana, but I am afraid that if I even suggested it that it would cause friction for Kyle at school. What it all boils down to is that they are going to talk to his teachers and make sure they watch out for him, and give him help if he needs it. Now all I have to do is to convince him to ASK if he doesn't understand something. There probably is no way he could take a mini tape recorder to class with him is there? So he catches everything, if not the first time around, then maybe later. AM I TRYING TO HARD? DO I JUST NEED TO RELAX? I am SO confused. I think I need a cup of hot cocoa and a good book.

April 25, 2003 - Msg 13456: Hey, Mary Wiggins! Sugarplum and I are rightchere! Now that I'm back to work, I sometimes have to choose between sleeping and porch-sitting! Not a pleasant choice, but I usually have to choose the sleep, unless I want to fall asleep at work, which would definitely not be cool.

In a day or so, I'll send you some pictures of Pat's work, as it looks where I've chosen to display it. I picked up all three pictures from the framer today, and he did an excellent job. I need to sleep this afternoon, so haven't hung them yet, but will probably do that tomorrow. They're going to look wonderful in that bedroom.

I wonder what it is about people in positions of responsibility where special-needs kids are concerned? My daughter-in-law is a master's-prepared diagnostician for kids with learning disabilities, and she recently resigned from her job because of problems with the director. The woman is insensitive beyond belief. You'll remember that we lost our little grandson last September, an hour after his birth. My DIL was distraught, naturally, and at the end of the six-week maternity leave that the district is required to grant, she wasn't ready to return and asked for a two-week extension, unpaid. That director grudgingly agreed, then said she didn't understand why DIL needed more time. "After all, maternity leave is given so you can bond with the new baby, and since there is no baby, I don't know why you would need more time." Can you imagine? How heartless and cold can one person be? That did it, and my DIL started making plans. She has opened a business of her own, and bailed out of the school district two weeks ago, for good, I'm sure. She said she has hated it for a long time, because management treats it like just a business, with no thought given to the individual child. That's very sad. They had a kind and caring person on the staff, and forced her out with their callous behavior.

April 25, 2003 - Msg 13458: Ro, that story just makes me sick. Why would people so directly involved with children's lives be so uncaring? That is one of the reasons I chose to homeschool. I feel like I care more about my kids than anyone else will, especially since my boy has some special needs. I pray those involved with Kyle will see how uncaring they are being and make a change. There are some wonderful people in the school system who really care. Let's pray that God sends one Kyle's way.

April 25, 2003 - Msg 13459: No, Bulb, my feet don't fall asleep, at least not yet, though I expect they will someday. Sometimes I can't get the rest of me to do it, either, and that makes for a very long shift! It's just awful, sitting there trying to chart when I'm so sleepy.

Oh, good news for me. The hospital just called, and our census is down a bit, so we were overstaffed by one nurse, and they wanted to know if I'd like to stay home. Unpaid, of course, unless I want to cover it with my vacation time. Yes, I'll stay home, and no, don't touch my vacation time. I'll bite the bullet with a short paycheck, and stay here and cuddle with the Plum tonight. Perhaps I'll get those pictures hung! I just love little unexpected surprises like this!

April 26, 2003 - Msg 13464: Okay Fun girl - Indiana has to meet least restrictive environment needs of the individual child. That means - what ever the case conference committee deems as LRE. You as a parent are part of that. A referral packet is used to make sure he still qualifies for HI services. Consultation is a service which means that the HI teacher is not directly involved with the child but rather with the child's teachers to make sure that all of his needs can be met. In other words - if he needs a trainer he can have one, if he needs someone to be a notetaker, he can have one - those are adaptations to his regular curriculum. I have several students that I do not see personally but rather I check in with their teachers to see if I can provide any help to her/him for the student (trainer, notetaker paper, assignment books). If you remember in an earlier post I told you several different things the teacher's could do for Kyle - like making sure his assignment book was filled out properly, etc - those are adaptations and do not need to be done by the HI teacher but by the regular ed teacher. It is very confusing - make sure they give you a parent rights book and read it. And if you don't understand - make them explain it to you and if you still aren't satisfied - find an advocate (they are listed in the book) and you will get satisfactory help for Kyle. The special ed districts do not like to work with advocates so they will bend over backwards for you then. All you need to do is mention you are bringing one and then, watch them sweat.

Bush, Al Gore, Don Imus of Imus in The Morning, Ray Romano, and many many more, including cartoon characters , but Barney Fife is SO much fun to impersonate, I get into character completely with Barney! Anybody know where I can get a new uniform? My Barney uniform that I perform as Barney in at local variety shows and festivals is wearing out very badly and I am having a hard time finding the right kind of deputy's uniform. Does anyone know where I could get an authentic looking Barney Fife uniform?

April 27, 2003 - Msg 13467: (((HUGS))) homemaker! You are my hero. I only wish that I had consulted you before I signed the durn paper. I do understand all the things you said and I have made a list of the things that I am going to ask for, once he is considered in special services again, and if they do not meet Kyle's needs then I WILL go to an advocate. As far as the note taker, to what extent do they go and do you think that is necessary, or is that something that special services will decide? I just do not want to take ALL responsibility off Kyle's shoulders. I am going to ask for an auditory trainer that does not consist of a set of headphones. Does it seem that I am pushing my luck asking for that? The idea of the old auditory trainer upsets him to no end now that he is in middle school. Could you tell me a little bit more about the note taker? Would that be another student, or an adult or what? Just trying to picture in my mind what it is I am gonna ask for. Wish we could clone you and have the clone come to work here.

Talked with Pastor today and he is such a Godly man. He is new to our church and we were so lucky to get him. We had been without a pastor for 8 months and finally the Lord led him to us. He has been retired for a while but writes sermons for a church owned radio-station. Sincere, dedicated christian man. I asked you all to pray for Vi right after my accident. That is his wife. She suffered a heart attack the night of my accident.
She will be having a double-pace maker put in soon,(all you medical people, does that sound right, maybe I got it mixed up)I will keep you updated and ask for special prayer then too. They are both precious people. Anyway, back to the annointing. He would like to meet Mike and Kyle and have a talk with the three of us and just let them know what will be happening and all. That will be the 10th of May. (We will be at My BIG FAT REDNECK REUNION this coming weekend.) Then, the meeting and the next weekend, the 17, they will do the annointing. He said God can do great things according to his will and he had annointed people where miraculous things have happened, again, according to God's will. But for me to be at peace and know that at the very least that I will feel a unity with God like never before and that whatever His will is I will be at peace with it.And my sins will be forgiven. That is the basic way I understand it anyway. I would appreciate your prayers that my faith will build and that I will never underestimate what our wonderful God can do. Also that between now and then I will be able to work on some things in my charecter that need work and have been nagging at me for some time. I have got some praying and studying ahead of me for the next couple of weeks.
Also I would appreciate your prayers on the 17th all day long, but especially from the time you awake until about 4:00 p.m. You know what they say about whenever two or three agree together...and I think that holds true for our porch friends in spirit too. The church will be praying in one room and the annointing will be going on in the other. I requested it that way. I am able to be in the church with my church family and that is where I want to be at that special time. I am planning some beautiful soft music to be in the background before and after the prayer service. I want this to be a soothing experience and something that will be uplifting for all. God is so good. I am overwhelmed by His care and love for each and every one of us. How can we get so wrapped up on our little lives and be too busy to at least thank Him for all He has done and continues to do for us? Sermon Over!

April 27, 2003 - Msg 13470: My sentiments exactly, Asa. That's good advice, Ellen. My own camera is an Olympus D550, and I've had zero problems. It uploads the pictures from the camera's chip through a "Dazzle" reader, which is attached to the computer like another drive. The software for that installed very easily in the beginning, and once there, it remains permanent unless I remove it. The camera does have a "firewire", I think, but I didn't realize that at first and went with the "Dazzle" thing, and it works great. I agree with Asa. Your best bet would be to get "the man" to help you.

fun girl, I'll certainly pray for you and for Kyle, and for the very best resolution of your problems. One thing is for sure, you have appealed to the right Judge, and He'll work it all out in the end, by whatever means He deems best.

May I also ask for prayers, for my father? I think he had a small stroke yesterday, not sure. He fell, no physical harm done, but has been mentally very foggy ever since. His speech is a bit slurred, and his thoughts are badly scrambled. We didn't take him to the ER, since he wasn't hurt physically. They would only run him through a bunch of tests, fighting him all the way, and in the end would just say "yes, he's had a stroke." Nothing to be done about it, so why put him through all that? What I ask of you, friends, is to join him in the prayer he prays daily when he's lucid enough - that God will let him go to sleep here and wake up in Heaven. It used to hurt me to hear him say that, but now it has become my prayer for him as well. Can you think of a sweeter thing than that? To fall asleep in the midst of confusion and physical infirmity, and awaken in the midst of beauty, comfort, clarity, and God's eternal love? To fall asleep to the sound of a TV commercial, blaring too loudly, and awaken to the sound of an angel choir, singing at just the right pitch to reverberate through your soul? Who could ask for more?

April 27, 2003 - Msg 13472: FUn Girl - the notetaker can be as simple as the teacher photocopying the notes. I would still make Kyle write as many as he can and then you would have the extra copy as back-up. They do make ear-level trainers (they look like hearing aids) unfortunately Jr. Hi kids do not like hearing aids, trainers, etc. - so the getting the teacher's notes would be helpful if he doesn't want the trainer. Also - have his teacher's check his assignment book, have study guides given when the chapters are assigned and make sure you study nightly even if there is no homework in that subject. Review the science and social studies or reading and health nightly.
I'll try to think of some other things if I can.

April 27, 2003 - Msg 13473: Awwwww, Asa! You're making me blush! You're very kind. homemaker, I may be way off track here, but I was wondering - would the LeapFrog series be of any help to Kyle? I got my three middle grandsons each a LeapPad for Christmas, and it's now my pleasure to surprise them with a new "book" now and then. They really enjoy it. The books (with their little cassettes) are age-classified, and cover a wide range of subjects. There's phonics, science, math, reading comprehension, spelling, grammar - pretty much anything a grade-schooler could want. There's also a way to connect to your computer and tie into their website, or download additional material. Well, anyway, it's a thought. Might provide at least a little extra support for Kyle, in a fun and entertaining way.

I walked out on my driveway this afternoon, on my way to visit my dad, and found the driveway just covered with leafy twigs. Must have been at least a hundred of them. From experience, I knew to look up. Sure enough, up in the tree, resting on a forked branch, was a big old loosely-constructed, very unstable squirrel's nest! He's an enthusiastic builder, but his skills need some work! He, or some squirrel (they all pretty much look alike!) tries to build on that same branch every year, and every year I spend a lot of time cleaning up dropped building materials. When they're not doing that, they're planting pecans in my flowerbeds, digging up bulbs I've planted, eating pine cones and scattering the hulls on the sidewalk, swinging on the bird feeder so it tips and spills the seed, whatever. God really was thinking right when He made them so cute. Otherwise, I'd surely try to chase them away, the adorable little pests.

I found my dad doing fairly well. He was napping when I got there, and didn't try to get up, but he woke up and talked with me. He's still very confused, but his speech is much less slurred, and I was able to connect with him on some level. Had to keep pulling him back to the subject at hand, but at least he would come back. Last night, he couldn't hold a thought more than a second or two. I took him some cut-up watermelon, some strawberries and some A&W root beer, so he's a happy man! When I left, he had the bowl of fruit beside him on the bed, watching TV and munching away! Thank God, he still has his sweet spirit, and his habit of making the best of whatever his circumstances may be.

Well, guess I'll rustle up some supper, but need to play with the Plum first. She has dropped her rubber hamburger on my foot three times. I get the hint! Have a great evening, folks. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

I have a question for you all.
Maybe I am the only one who does this but when ever I watch a show on tv I picture in my mind where north south east and west are in relation to the show. You all ever do that or am I just strange? For example, I have always thought that when Andy was sitting at his desk in the courthouse that he was facing north. I just found out he ain't though. Likewise I always thought the Taylor house was a West facing home and it still maybe cause I don't know if it ever said on the show. So how about you? You got it in your head how things are layed out? Just curious.

I thought the courthouse door faced east, and that the Taylor house did, too. Don't know why it feels that way to me, but it does. April 28, 2003 - Msg 13479: Like homemaker, I'm not very good with directions. I'd have trouble finding my way out of a paper bag!
Someone asked me a while ago what kind of bike I had. I think it was either Charlotte or Ellen. But anyway, I said that I had a Schwinn but when I looked down at the name the other day it was a Huffy. How did that happen?! I must have thought it was a Schwinn because of the old-timey look it has, and Schwinn is an old-timey kind of bike manufacturer.
Then it just occurred to me that maybe whoever asked me about that thought that I was talking about motorcycles when I said I like to ride my "bike". Was that the case? I don't have a motorcycle, not that I wouldn't want one. My Dad does have an old Parilla that we used to ride around on. It's still sitting in the shed.
Wow! Say that last sentence three times fast! :)

April 28, 2003 - Msg 13480: Hi, Asa! I always pictured Andy sitting at his desk facing East and his house facing South. Isn't that funny, I never really thought about it before you brought it up, though. Have you ever considered seeing a psyciatrist about your "little problem"? heehee

The trip to Mexico was great. We had thiry people go with us this time and we built three houses in three days! I stayed at the retreat center on Saturday and prepared the meals for all thirty, so I was busy but loved every minute of it. Thanks for your prayers and support. Fun girl, thanks for mentioning pastor (Mark) in your prayer requests. He was still in the hospital yesterday but might go home today. He got antibiotics with both barrels and it was determined to be a Strep infection in his leg. He is much better, though. Reminds us all of the importance of cleaning a wound as soon as we get it, not matter how small. And if you get a puncture wound, make sure you get a Tet-nus shot if you need one (last I heard, everyone should have one at least every ten years) but if I get a good puncture wound I always get another one at that time.

Well, I feel like I have a hangover after the last three days. Just real tired, you know. Better go get something done while I can. Take care!

Sterling, when I was a child I recieved a bicycle called a Huffy, so they are old time bikes too! I happened to have and Uncle named Duffy, and when he saw me riding that bike, at first he thought it was a Duffy! (I wonder how many other porchsters had uncles named Duffy? LOL I also have a cousin named Pinky, she is pushing 60 now, so her hair ain't pink like it used to be!)

Well, I guess I best go get something ready to feed my clan here, since Boo hasn't taken my up on the cooking for the porch offer yet!

April 28, 2003 - Msg 13489: Well, Mary Wiggins, I made sausage, egg, and cheese tacos for breakfast and we had lasagna for dinner, with garlic bread and salad. I have to admit, though, that the lasagna was the frozen kind. I offered to make it from scratch but they talked me out of it because it would be hard to make for thirty people. I must tell you, though, that I make the best lasagna in Texas. As far as other southern favorites, I'm not sure what the difference is between what I cook and what they cook in the North. Today I am making BBQ chicken, pinto beans (the kind you add ham to and cook all day), and potato salad (the mashed kind, not the kind with chunks-I put mustard, mayo and sweet relish in my potato salad). I make alot of meat loaf, pot roast, various chicken dishes (seldom fried). Don't eat much seafood but it is readily available here on the coast. I make good chocolate meringue pie (and lemon) and great apple pie. Am I making anyone hungry? Ya'll just tell me what your favorites are and I will fix them and leave them on the porch for ya! It is starting to get hot here in S. Texas, for sure! When that happens, we start to eat alot of salads and we cook in the crock pot alot because the oven heats up the house too much. Even with air conditioning, it gets warm in the house with the oven on....I am starting to ramble, sorry.

I am really bummed that the color episodes of TAGS have already started on TVLand. It's too soon, isn't it? I miss Barney.

Are any of you Timmy and Lassie fans? I adored watching those reruns when I was a kid and I miss it. I bought a video tape a few years ago and it contained two Christmas episodes of Timmy and Lassie. I accidently erased it and have not been able to locate another copy on the net. If any of you know how I can locate one, please let me know. The tape was called, "Lassie Come Ho, Ho, Home.". Bye!

1 pound seashell pasta
1 cup chopped mushrooms
1 cup chopped cucumber
1 cup chopped broccoli
1 cup white sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup prepared mustard
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste

Directions
1 Cook pasta in large pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Rinse with cool water. Drain well.
2 Meanwhile, combine chopped vegetables, sugar, oil, mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, and shredded Cheddar cheese in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well. Stir in pasta. Refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours before serving.

Makes 12 servings

Easy Pasta Salad

Pasta salad is simply pasta and vegetables mixed with a delicious dressing. In this case, the dressing is your own Apple Juice Vinaigrette.

Yield: This recipe makes 2 to 3 servings.
Time: It takes 20 minutes (including pasta cooking time), start to finish.

You will also need:
Medium-sized bowl
Cutting board and small, sharp knife
Measuring spoons
Wooden spoon
Plates and forks

Note to the adult: Cook 1 cup (1/4 pound) pasta in boiling, salted water until tender. Drain it in a colander, rinse under cold running water, and drain again. Transfer to the medium-sized bowl.

Ingredients:
2 cups cooked pasta (tubes, macaroni, small shells, or twists)
Half a red bell pepper, minced (cut in tiny pieces)
1 scallion, minced (cut in tiny pieces)
2 tablespoons chopped black olives
6 tablespoons Apple Juice Vinaigrette
Salt and pepper in shakers

1. You have the cooked pasta already in the bowl.

Add the bell pepper, scallion, and olives. Mix them in with the pasta, gently with a wooden spoon.

2. Shake the jar of Apple Juice Vinaigrette. Open it and measure out 6 tablespoons, one at a time, pouring each into the pasta.

Stir again with a wooden spoon.

3. Add a few shakes of salt and pepper, stir again, and serve warm or cool.

Apple Juice Vinaigrette

Yield: This recipe makes about 3/4 cup. (That's enough for 4 to 6 servings of salad.)
Time: It takes about 10 minutes to make, start to finish.

You will also need:
Measuring spoons
Cutting board and a small, sharp knife for the garlic
Small jar with a lid that fits tightly

Ingredients:
4 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 cup apple juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (cut in tiny pieces)

1. Put into a jar:
4 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 cup apple juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic

2. Put the top on tightly.

Shake!

3. Shake it again before you put it on the salad.

Note: Apple Juice Vinaigrette keeps for months in a tightly-covered jar in the refrigerator

Greek Pasta Salad
1 - 1 lb. box of pasta corkscrew spirals, cooked, drained, and cooled
2 Roma tomatoes, chopped
1 small onion, minced
1 red sweet pepper, deseeded and chopped
1 cup broccoli florets
1/2 cup sliced black or Greek calamata olives
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/4 cup low-fat Italian salad dressing

Toss all ingredients together in large salad bowl. Allow to sit in refrigerator for one hour before serving for flavors to blend. Serve with warm pita bread. Excellent summertime meal and good choice for vegetarians.

This refreshing salad, with the bright flavors of late-summer produce, is a perfect supper on a warm evening. Meal Round-Out: For a starter, drizzle avocado quarters with balsamic vinegar; then serve the pasta salad with some hearty whole-wheat bread toasted under the broiler with thick slices of cheddar.

8 ounces fettuccine

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 tablespoons white wine vinegar

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

1 cucumber, thinly sliced

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1/4 cup sliced green onions

1 tomato, seeded, chopped

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Serves 4 as a main dish, 6 as a side dish

1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water; drain again. Place pasta in a large salad bowl.

2. For dressing: Combine oil, vinegar, parsley, salt, oregano and hot pepper sauce in a small bowl; whisk until well blended.

3. Add cucumber, mushrooms, green onions and tomato to pasta; toss lightly to mix. Pour dressing over pasta mixture; toss lightly. Serve pasta salad at room temperature or chill, covered, in the refrigerator until serving time.

Mariner's Fruit Salad

1/2 to 3/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
Grated peel and juice of 1/2 Sunkist� lemon
2 cans (about 7 ounces each) tuna, drained and chunked
2 Sunkist oranges, peeled, cut into bite-sized pieces, and drained
1 unpeeled red apple, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 cup grapes, cut in half and seeded
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Salt to taste (optional)
Salad greens
Paprika
Lemon wedges
Makes 6 servings (about 5 cups).
In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon peel and juice. Stir in the tuna, orange pieces, apple, grapes, and walnuts; season with salt. Cover and chill. To serve, spoon tuna mixture onto salad greens; sprinkle with paprika and garnish with lemon wedges.

7-up jello salad recipe

1 3-oz pkg lemon jello

1 c hot water

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 c pecans

1 large can crushed pineapple, drained

1 8-oz pkg cream cheese, softened

8-oz 7-up soft drink

Dissolve jello in hot water, add 7-up and set aside. Beat cream cheese and pineapple until smooth. Add sugar and vanilla. Add jello mixture and pecans. Refrigerate over night.

Hey, one of my favorites is to mix fresh spinach leaves with sliced strawberries and some poppy seeds. Just add a dressing of oil, vinegar and sugar. Great stuff!! Sounds funky but is very good in the summer.

Where has Bulbsnatcher run off to? I just love her name! It reminds me of the running feud Barney had with her! I just don't know what new show, (or old) could ever compare to the comedic writing in Mayberry! It seems today everything is so...well, low class! It amazes me that writers could take a subject like a landlord who dictates what wattage bulb a tenant could use and make it so funny! And let's not underestimate Bernard P. Fife here. He really made scenes like this work! I just LOVE that show, I don't talk about it too much here, cause I have met so many friends and we seem to talk about everything, but there is just something about Mayberry!
