Hey to everyone! Hope you all are having a great day!
To those that want to use a light font color: You can do that and make it readable
simple by typing, <>table bgcolor="black">><>td>><>font color="white">>
don't forget to turn everything off at the end of your post by typing, <>/font>><>/TD>><>/table>><>/center>>
and when posted this is what it will look like,
Now I'm using the font color white and you can read
it! I hope.J |
That's almost the same way I make a birthday banner, I just add border it. I hope
I've been able to be a help to someone.
Flora, you did it! Determination, that's a good character quality, you were
determined to get it right and you kept trying until you did. Good job!
Bulbsnatcher, now you can use a light font color and everyone can read it!
Go ahead and give it a try. What have you got to lose? And that goes for Msg
#655-657 too.
Happy Postin'

Howdy, friends! Just spent the last hour readin' and catchin' up. Whoooeee! Sure
has been some fancy fontin' going on. I might get in on a bit of that myself later,
it looks like fun.
Got my little Dad all moved into the retirement residence and his house is now
cleared out completely, ready to lease. Problem is - all his stuff is now here
in my house! I've got little trails between stacks of boxes, and this is AFTER
the kids and grandkids have taken everything they could use, and AFTER the garage
sale! Will my life ever return to normal?
Hey, guess what! I've now got DSL! Installed yesterday, and I love it. If it was
any faster, it'd load a page before I even asked for it! The best part is, now
my Dad can call me even when I'm online, because the "online" is always on, and
my phone line is always free. Love it!
Well, have a great Mayberry day, folks.--Romeena

I apologize if I did and thank you for fixing it. Lillian, I am not one for change
either, but I do love the color posts, but still love the black and white. Romeena,
that DSL sounds neat. I've got what they call a "Hot Call Box" which plugs into
my computer and when I'm online if I have an incoming call it rings and I get
offline and answer it. What really gets my goat is when it is a telemarketer calling.
But it was a cheaper way out than an extra phone line or new computer or server.
And I'm cheap as well as sincere. Beautiful weather here. Happy Birthday Mr. Schwump

feel bad usin' it.....I think Elinora kinda likes it too. She used it first, and
I shore don't wanna steal somebody's color! Hmmmm.....I'll come up with one though.
Either way....the colors on here really are a lot of fun! Gosh....I sure hope
I didn't cause that marquee thingy either....I tried to do the blinking thing,
but right now...I'm using IE, so I don't even know if it worked! Hahahaha!
You are very welcome, **Barn....it was my pleasure to get "Goober's" autograph
for ya. I appreciate the offer, but I think I'd rather go down to the fillin'
station for a bottle of pop...how's about a Huckleberry Smash?
"Goober" sure does have pretty eyes, I think. There was only about four people
in front of me for autograph signin', and I swear...they musta got 40 autographs
and 10 pictures taken with him! Whew....I hope everybody else didn't do that....the
people in the back of the line probably never got a chance at him if that happened
a bunch! I guess they were just real excited. Anyway...he seems like a real nice
fellah....real down-to-earth.
Ray Stevens was there too...a few people recognized him. He seemed to just be
there to enjoy himself and was keeping a low profile, so nobody I know of asked
him for his autograph. Overall....it was a fun day....it was a fun day all the
way around.
Well, everybody take care!

Hey, cgirl....that is really neat about your name on here...Thanks! I guess I'm
a country girl at heart myself! As for my name....I used "Charlene" for awhile,
but later found out there was another "Charlene" who hadn't been coming around
for awhile on Sarah's (chat room). She kinda returned, and then there were one
or two other "Charlenes" that showed up, and it was getting confusing! So...I
tried to find a unique name pertaining to Andy Griffith, and thought "Bulbsnatcher"
was pretty cool. I chose it from the episode I believe was called "Up In Barney's
Room" (hope I'm not wrong), where his landlady was upset with him for cooking
in his room, having a light bulb with more wattage than she "allowed", etc. He
had said to her, "SNOOP, SNOOP! BULBSNATCHER" when she removed the light bulb
from his lamp. Sorry this post was so long, folks.

Miss Ellie , I'm glad Sweetie is okay. Cats have lots of problems with
cystitis, don't they? And Bulbsnatcher, my sympathies on the loss of your
beloved Sam. We "pet people" do understand. My little Sugarplum is of the canine
persuasion, and I love her so much it scares me sometimes, because I know I may
lose her someday, and that's a dismal prospect. When I was much younger, and raising
my family, I still had my pets and I loved them. Now, however, with just myself
alone here, my "fur baby" sometimes is my link to sanity. She's loving, sensitive,
patient, and at just the right times, a clown. God knew what he was doing when
he designed domestic animals, especially our cats and dogs. He definitely knew
that I'd need my little Plum during these years. One of my favorite TAGS eps,
of course, is "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs". It was presented with such honesty, as well
as sensitivity and humor. It wasn't sugary, instead it reflected the general attitude
of most people. Dogs are dogs, and generally manage well on their own. While this
isn't necessarily true, it is the way the majority of people think. However, when
the animals appeared to be in danger, the basic goodness in Andy and Barney rose
up, and they went after the whole batch of wet, muddy, probably smelly dogs, even
the "little trembly one". Just another example of the fine quality of TAGS. Sorry,
folks, this grows too long. Have a good evening!--Romeena
October 25, 2000, 7:52 pm Msg #782
Romeena....that was a beautiful post! Thank you so much for understanding. You
are so right about most people thinking cats and dogs do well on their own. Some
forget that they too get lonely, the do get hot, they CAN get frostbite, etc.,
etc. But animals never judge us on what we wear, how we look, how successful we
are, or anything...it's like that saying....something like "I hope to become half
the person my dog/cat thinks I am". Something like that.
I loved that episode "with all them dogs" too! Hahahaha...just don't forget another
lesson that we learned in that episode. Giraffes are selfish! TAGS is so educational,
and many of them pertaining to animals/wildlife ... for example....the next time
I go tiger huntin', I know, thanks to TAGS, that I need to take my tweezers! I
know that touching a baby bird doesn't mean it will die, but it might stunt its
growth a little. I know the different "whistles" of birds now, like "Geee...I'm
feelin' bad!" I'm sure there have been a lot more lessons on animals that ole'
Barney Parney Poo has taught us. Can anybody think of some more?
Thanks again, sweetie. As for being alone....you DO have Sugarplum (darling name!),
and you have a lot of people here on the Porch who love ya! I guess I'll "paws"
now and give somebody else a chance to get a word or two in. Hey to all!Bulbsnatcher

Irene Fairchild was the new County Nurse in the episode The County Clerk,

Actually though, the episode you and NRNMG are
confusing this one with is Andy's Old Girlfriend, which introduced
us to a character named Alice Harper (ANOTHER tall, blond, looker) from Andy's
past. But since Andy was already hooked up with Helen (BLECH!) Crump, that left
the way clear for Howard (YAWN!) Sprague to put the moves on her. You're right
about the scenario, NRNMG, in that Andy and
Alice got lost in the woods (separately) and found each other wandering around
out there. They found their way back to the cabin (together) by which time Helen
and Howard had already woken up and found their counterparts missing. Alice Harper
was played by Joanna McNeil.

"Tomorrow morning," the surgeon began, "I'll open up your heart..."
"You'll find Jesus there," the boy interrupted.
The surgeon looked up, annoyed. "I'll cut your heart open," he continued, "to
see how much damage has been done..."
"But when you open up my heart, you'll find Jesus in there."
The surgeon looked to the parents, who sat quietly. "When I see how much damage
has been done, I'll sew your heart and chest back up and I'll plan what to do
next."
"But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns all
say He lives there. You'll find Him in my heart."
The surgeon had had enough. "I'll tell you what I'll find in your heart. I'll
find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels. And I'll find out
if I can make you well."
"You'll find Jesus there too. He lives there."
The surgeon left. The next day, the surgeon sat in his office, recording his
notes from the surgery, "...Damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, widespread
muscle degeneration. No hope for transplant, no hope for cure. Therapy: painkillers
and bed rest.
"Prognosis:" Here he paused, "Death within one year."
He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. "Why?" he asked aloud.
"Why did You do this? You've put him here; You've put him in this pain; and
You've cursed him to an early death. Why?"
The Lord answered and said, "The boy, My lamb, was not meant for your flock
for long, for he is a part of My flock, and will forever be. Here, in My flock,
he will feel no pain, and will be comforted as you cannot imagine. His parents
will one day join him here, and they will know peace, and My flock will continue
to grow."
The surgeon's tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. "You created that boy,
and You created that heart. He'll be dead in months. Why?"
The Lord answered, "The boy, My lamb, shall return to My flock, for he has
done his duty: I did not put My lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve
another lost lamb."
The surgeon wept.
The surgeon sat beside the boy's bed; the boy's parents sat across from him.
The boy awoke and whispered, "Did you cut open my heart?"
"Yes," said the surgeon.
"What did you find?" asked the boy.
"I found Jesus there," said the surgeon.

ONE CHILD'S EXPLANATION OF GOD . "One of God's main jobs is making people. He
makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take
care of things on earth. . He doesn't make grown-ups, just babies. I think because
they are smaller and easier to make. That way He doesn't have to take up His valuable
time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers."
. "God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this
goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime.
God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. . Because
He hears everything, there must be a terrible lot of noise in His ears, unless
He has thought of a way to turn it off." "God sees everything and hears everything
and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His
time by going over your Mom and Dad's head asking for something they said you
couldn't have." . "Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think
there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church."
. "Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on water and
performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about
God. They finally got tired of Him preaching to them and they crucified Him. But
He was good and kind, like His Father and He told His Father that they didn't
know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said O.K." . "His Dad [God)
appreciated everything that He had done and all His hard work on earth so He told
Him He didn't have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So
He did. And now He helps His Dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things
which are important for God to take care of and which ones He can take care of
Himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important."
. "You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got
it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time." . "You should always go
to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want
to make happy, it's God. Don't skip church or do something you think will be more
fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out
at the beach until noon anyway." . "If you don't believe in God, besides being
an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere
with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're
scared in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water
by big kids." . "But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for
you. I figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases. And...that's
why I believe in God."

with 818, creepy quiet---wake up everyone ! 32 days
of no rain here in Mayberry. My monitor is changing colors, does anyone know if
that means that it is about to go? Miss Ellie "My home town."

I think Autumn is so beautiful! There is something tanquil about the leaves changing
color and lazily falling to the ground.
Then again, it ain't ME that has to rake em all up! LOL. I also think I like
autumn cuz its the promise of colder weather which could mean SNOW. Thats right,
the dreaded *s* word. But back to this leaf thing. I saw a guy today raking
the leaves across the road into a ditch across from his house. Now, maybe its
just me, but if a good wind comes along, they could all blow right back to his
yard. I just don't get the concept of leaf "blowing" or raking them away. Why
not vacuum them up (or rake them up) and put them in a bag so that they are
gone forever? Just one of life's little mysteries I guess.
Hey to the Porchters!
Idelle
October 29, 2000, 8:47 pm Msg #824
Idelle, the secret to leaf blowing...is you blow them into your neighbors yard
for him or her to rake up...hahaha! I rake them up and put them at the bottom
of our lot where it is wooded. All woods for a good ways behind my house to the
next street. Now, unlike Idelle, I don't like winter...the *s* word is pretty
but can cause problems. Believe me the 20 inches we had last winter will last
ME a life time. The snow I love, big flakes falling fast and furious and then
the ground is too warm and they melt. I've changed a lot since I was a child.
But fall is pretty. My favorite season is spring, the rebirth of all things, the
greenery revived. I love the leaves of the trees as they bud out, right lacey
looking, the grass growing, flowers blooming. Goodnight dear friends. A special
hey to Idelle. So good to meet you at Mayberry Days and hug your neck. Nice to
meet Gilly too. MIss Ellie "Aren't the trees nice and full?"

Hmmmmmm.......I'm not too sure about how Andy and Barney would vote in this election.
I do know ONE thing though.....if they took a vote on a cannon, Barney would vote
to keep it! 'Cept of course.....if everybody voted to get rid of it, he wouldn't
cast a vote...he doesn't want to go in the history books as being a troublemaker.
Lordy....as soon as y'all asked how they would vote.....I thought of Barney and
that cannon that Tracy Rupert had scratched his initials in, and Andy saying it
was Teddy Roosevelt. "Well....it's true....he DID charge up San Juan Hill.....draggin'
this cannon behind him." I guess I'll hush about this cannon thang and quit lookin'
noisy. Maybe I'll go here in a few minutes, find a barrel ring, and put it away.
Thanks for the condolences on my precious Sam...it means a lot.
You know....I like autumn too....but I don't like leaving in the morning when
it's dark, and getting home in the dark too! Boo! Hiss! I guess I'm just a spring/summer
person. I guess that makes winter my fourth favorite time of year, huh?

Guess I'll go up for a day or two and visit my Mom for Thanksgiving. Sometimes
I kinda dread the trip even though it's really not that far....sometimes I wish
she would let me get her and bring her here to MY house for the holidays. But....you
know.....one day, I would give ANYTHING for the "trouble" of making arrangements
to be with her when she is no longer here! I thank God for the time I have with
her...I guess we all ought to remember THAT sometimes too.
Y'all have a great day...I'll stop in later, if that's okay.
